Married: March 18,2008

Application Sent to Mississauga: February 10, 2009

Approved as Sponsor and papers sent to Haiti: March 2, 2009

IN PROCESS: March 10, 2009

My husband received an email on June 9, 2009 requesting the following documents:
- New Police Certificate
- Original of birth certificate and extract "acta de nacimiento y extracto de acta"
- Original Wedding certificate
- Bio data page of his passport
- Complete the following declarations: IMMH10 and IMMH10a

Received Phone call to go June 25, 2009 to embassy - reason unknown

June 25, 2009 - embassy provided IMMH10 forms to be filled out, dropped off requested documents, advised next step will be interview or call to drop off passport

November 22,2009-emailed POP for correction in document we sent

November 24,2009-received email from POP to acknowledge reciept of email and correction made in document

February 9,2010-appointment with MP regarding status/information on our file; I had to get my spouse to sign permission for release of info-it was form that my MP provided me

February-My MP contacted Minister's office explaining our situation concerning no update/info from visa office since November email (and email received was confirmation of my email sent not relating to anything in our file except a mistake made by them). Minister's office contacted MP and said they needed a few days to look into things directly (my MP and I thought that this was good news)

March-I contacted MP several times via phone/email for update and had difficult time getting hold of my MP and getting the MP to contact the Ministers office for the update

March 18th-Minister's office only told MP that our bring forward date was April. They decided not to assist in my case. I spent several hours on the phone argueing with my MP and several phone calls later, I got some info on our file. Our file was confirmed to be in Sto.Domingo, our medicals are expired, our IMM declaration was not filled in properly, they do not have his birth certificate and they approved our relationship to be genuine and we do not need an interview. This was in our file since last June and we were NOT contacted via mail, email or called for any information/documents.

March 25,2010-embassy in Sto.Domingo called and instructed husband to get another medical and to drop off at the embassy March 29.

March 26,2010-husband completed 2nd medical and went directly to the embassy and handed medical directly to Canadian employee (he requested to speak to one directly).Husband wanted them to take additional identity documents but they would not take them. They told him that it would be approx. 30 days to process this info and will contact him if more is needed.

March 31-I am travelling to the DR to obtain these documents, again, and to go to the Embassy directly with my husband to hand these documents to a Canadian employee in the embassy. We will be getting a second medical, a third police record check, a third birth certificate to bring to the office. Needless to say, this has been very costly both financially and emotionally for both of us.

April 12-husband received a call from the embassy to go on April 15 with passport for 10 am.

April 15-husband and I in Sto.Domingo at the embassy to drop off passport. We were asked to leave it with them and return at 3 pm. We received the visa by 1630. An error in the visa made us wait another hour there...hopefully no issues when presenting the visa and his passport at the airport.

June 7,2010-finally coming home with my husband to Canada=process complete.

Total Processing Time - 14 months
