The Ministry of Public Health’s Epidemiology Department Coronavirus Bulletin #309 reports 1,473 new PCR cases. The cases compare to the 7-day nationwide average for PCR confirmed cases that is 1,739. The past seven days have been a record week since the start of the new administration in August 2020.

The number of PCR-confirmed cases is at 201,145 for the Thursday, 21 January bulletin. Labs carried out 7,532 first PCR tests. The number of tests compares with the 14-day average, 6,500. The country can process 14,000 PCR tests a day. The government says sufficient PCR tests are available. Nevertheless, private lab capacity is pressed by the increased demand for tests from the public.

The 4-week positivity rate is 22.05%, on a downward trend after the increase in cases following the Christmas holidays. The 24-hour positivity for the day is 19.56%, down from the previous day...
