The spread of Covid-19 in the Dominican Republic continues under control, despite the confirmation that the Delta variant is in circulation. The authorities are monitoring the virus and its variants.

The 368 cases reported for the 26 September bulletin are the highest reported since 17 August 2021. The 368 new cases for bulletin #557 compare to the 7-day nationwide average for confirmed cases that is 307. The increase in cases could very well reflect the whirlwind of activities related to the start of in-person learning in early September for private schools and 20 September for public schools.

The national 4-week positivity rate for the 26 September 2021 Epidemiological Bulletin #557 is at 6.19%, up from the previous day. The 24-hour positivity for the day is 10.86%, up from the day before.
