Today we learned that one of Mr AE’s brothers - and his entire extended family - have Covid. They live in Santo Domingo. He’s being treated with invermectin and some special Vit D3 (100,000 mg!). They frequently rent large villas at Casa de Campo or Bavaro/PC for holidays or long weekends. 😳

How about the rest of the family? Are they receiving any kind of treatment? Are they required to self-quarantine?

Visit your local Dominican hospital, my friend.

One would have to be psychotic to want to be admitted.
Average ER physicians eliminate hypochondriacs in under a minute.
The problem is not people "running to the emergency wards with every little ache and pain but the opposite.
Most suffer at home with illnesses until they can no longer stand it then go off to the doctor or hospital.
The delay complicates care and many wait until it is too late thinking they will feel better tomorrow.
Much easier to treat people in the early stages of illness or injury.
That doesn't apply to many of our teachers. Any little ache or sniffle will have them off to the hospital or clinic with a minimum of 7 days off, sometimes 10 or 15 days off.
How about the rest of the family? Are they receiving any kind of treatment? Are they required to self-quarantine?
That isn't the only medicines they are taking is it?

I think they’re all seeing same physician, so that’s the treatment. Yes to self-quarantine.

What difference does the positive test count make. The only 2 numbers that matter are how many in the hopital and how many dead.

Nobody did or does these ridiculous counts for any other viruses. There only purpose is so that politicians can pat themselves on the back and say what a good job they are doing controlling it.

We know there's a problem. Quit adding the drama to it. Open the economy's of the world up

Your idea has been tried all over the world and has been an abject failure.

Positive test numbers are most important as they give a good idea of exactly where the disease hot spots are so the country can best allocate its resources.
The number of positives is also is an excellent prognosticator of what is coming so we can anticipate hospitalizations.
It is called being proactive.

The dead cannot be helped.
Those in the hospitals are being helped as much as possible.
The overall idea is to try to reduce the spread and publishing the dead and the hospitalized numbers have zero positive effect.
People are if anything "under afraid" of the virus and will not be scared into behaving in a safer fashion.

There have not been what you wrongly term "ridiculous" counts for other viruses because the world has not seen anything like this virus since 1918.

To many hypochondriacs plug up the hospitals. If people would guit running to the emergency wards with every little ache and pain the hospitals wouldn't be crowded.
Yeah, those hypochondriacs are a big problem.
Time for the medical schools to teach a class on how doctors recognize hypochondriacs and keep them from crowding the hospitals.
Since the Covid epidemic, everyone wants to be in the hospital.
Every day you see crowds of people running to hospitals with every little ache and pain.

You, my friend, live in a special reality and contribute in a significant way to the entertainment factor.

Your last 2 posts amuse me. Exactly what resources are the officials allocating to the so called hotspots. Other than a camera crew so they can get a few sound bites while they pat each other on the back.

If you have never seen, or heard a health care professional complain about hypochondriacs then you need to get out more. I'm not talking about the public hospitals here as they are cesspools at best.

Whatever it is you are smoking please share the name with us. Your reality is a hell of a lot different from the one the real world is in. I personally, would sooner die from covid than watch my world disintegrate while I starve to death from stupid political decisions.

Time to put your double mask on an hide under the bed for another week.

First case of the deadly virus from China comes to WA State in the US.

How will the DR be able to defend against this virus ? Are they screening people arriving from China ? This virus has already killed sick and infected hundreds more.

Seems a lot of deadly viruses start in China - too many people ?

remember those days...and most people thought it would be over soon, and back to normal in a few months.

Came across this today, DR isn’t the only place using ivermectin for Covid. And yet there are so many who poo-poo its use.

  • South Africa halted use of the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine, because of evidence that it didn’t stop mild or moderate illness from the virus variant first found there. Scientists said it might still protect against severe symptoms.
I am sure the DR will ignore this little detail.

A prediction:
Some countries will release restrictions after 50% of their population is vaccinated.
Other countries will wait to 60% or 70%.
Sometime in 2022 for this to happen.

What percentage will the DR use?

I wouldn't be surprised if that is what we all end up with in the not so distant future.

I’ve noticed most Dominicans wear masks, while many gringos & Haitians do not. I’ve noticed VERY little social distancing all around. My 2¢.
