What’s happening in Casa Linda? YouTube has some info on about a Canadian who had a house built there and there are some issues about transfer of ownership and supposedly exorbitant HOA costs. He has a DR lawyer hired to represent him. Are the problems related to pandemic precautions?

A neighbour had " covid " symptoms---- supposedly high fever, the runs, and whatnot---- so it was decided he should be tested.
Off they went to the nearest public hospital that can test...... which is not so near.
The hospital staff announced that, yes, his symptoms were " alarming " and he should be tested asap for covid19.
That was wedensday, and he was told to come back monday for the results.

No suggestions on what to do with him in the meanwhile...... so he just went back to his 2-bedroom-5-generations-under-the same-roof-communal-bathroom-shared-soap-bar-house...........

Fast foward to to today, monday, and it is unclear if the samples were tested/processed.
How was he feeling ? A bit better ? The fever had come down a bit ? Good.
A shrug, and back home he went, non the wiser.
u=yikes thats a terrible story

Now that you have opened up to USA, watch the cases rise, 50,000 new cases in the USA yesterday. I hope the Republica Dominicana does not destroy it's lucrative tourism industry, its far to soon to be accepting tourists from the USA. Europe and UK have a no admittance policy for travelers from the USA. UK tour operators

Airlines in the EU and UK were already saying they would not fly long haul flights (as in anywhere) until November.
That would mean the DR was not singled out.

Are you going to shelter in place for a few years?

Relief and happiness filled the airports with the return of international arrivals at Las Americas (Santo Domingo), Punta Cana and Cibao (Santiago) international airports this 1 July. The airports had been closed to international traffic since 19 March 2020.

The government authorized the reopening of the six international airports: International (Santo Domingo), Cibao International (Santiago) and Punta Cana International (Punta Cana). An estimated 2,000 persons arrived.

Punta Cana International Airport welcomed its first flight on 1 July. JetBlue was the first to fly in from New York. On board were 99 passengers. The flight landed at 11:29am at the open air terminal of the east coast airport.

On the first day, 346 passengers would arrive from New York, San Juan (Puerto Rico) and Miami.

The president of the Punta Cana International Airport, Frank Rainieri, and his wife Haydee Rainieri were there to receive the first passengers. Previously, only repatriation (one-way) flights had been allowed.

As reported, for July, there are flights scheduled from Toronto and Montreal in Canada; Miami, Atlanta, New York, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas, Newark, Boston, Charlotte and Houston in the United States; Zurich and Madrid from Europe.

Las Americas International received 15 flights with foreigners and locals on board. The first flight to arrive to Las Americas was a JetBlue flight from Puerto Rico with 34 passengers. JetBlue had 13 flights yesterday, as reported in Diario Libre. Other reports are of flights from Spirit from Florida, and Air Europe from Madrid.

Cibao International announced the arrival of 11 flights by JetBlue from New York, Boston and New Jersey. For Thursday, 12 JetBlue flights are scheduled.

Monika Infante, chief executive for Aerodom airports, forecast around 120,000 arrivals in July. ] END QUOTE

I don't know if relief and happiness should be the emotions.
Unless money is the only concern of government officials and entrepreneurs, for Dominican citizens.

The 130,147 dead up to date, in the US also had dreams and needs.

To open DR airports to US travellers at this time, seems like irresponsible government to me.
Dominican citizens have no choice in the matter, but will have to deal with the consequences.
The DR health services are poorly equipped to deal with a severe outbreak, if it was to happen.

If certain counties in the US are closing beaches, the DR should not be unconcerned about CV19.

The LA Times Orange County must close bars, indoor restaurants amid coronavirus surge.

California is one of several states that’s seen a significant rise in cases over the last few weeks, though unlike Texas and Florida, its governor at least seems to believe covid-19 exists. Earlier this week, Texas did order its bars to close and reduced restaurant capacity to 50 percent in an effort to curb its own massive spike in cases. It does not look like Florida—whose positive cases increased five times over in two weeks—will close its bars anytime soon, even though the virus is circulating hard among young people who seem to be picking it up at, uh, bars.

As a reminder, the U.S. covid-19 curve is not the least bit bent, despite Trump and his flunkies repeatedly cheering themselves for beating the virus, and things are certain to get worse (and worse, and worse). Another good reminder? Just because your local government is opening bars, does not mean you should go to one. And, more importantly, wear your fucking mask.

The governors of Florida and Texas closed down the bars Friday to slow down the spread of the coronavirus that has been rampaging at record levels through their states.

Texas and Florida close bars after explosion of COVID-19 cases
Florida reported 8,942 new coronavirus cases Friday, shattering the previous record set days ago.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered the bar shutdown as the state health department reported 8,942 new COVID-19 cases, shattering the previous record of 5,508 set just two days ago.

The part of my family who lives in the DR on the North Coast has no choice weighing the risks, other than staying home.
The uncontrolled arrivals of US tourists with cases spiking in the US is a risk factor they did not ask to engage in , of the Dr government.
Why are US travellers barred from entering other countries at this CV19 time?
Infection rates is the answer.

Doctor Camilla Rothe discovered one of the first indications that people without symptoms can transmit the coronavirus. But authorities ignored the observation. With possibly far-reaching consequences.

955 new cases today. Wow! RD will be in the thousands soon if they don't develop a wiser plan. Welp to the thousands they go.

Many beaches here in Florida are closed, as are some restaurants We (Florida) had 10,100 cases 2 days ago, higher than all but 2 countries-let that sink in.As much as I want to visit, it think the RD should ban US tourists like the EU has. Like many here,I have postponed my visit more than once.

Here's a true look inside the sdq airport. I don't see none of the safety measures being enforced(besides masks). If you have issues with urban culture, language, etc do not watch
