also they say no appointments until May!
The appointment issue have been solved and you can now get dates for a week and even for a day later. Also, if you have evidence of travel or that you have to go to the consulate soon, they might wait on you without a prior appointment.

Can someone please tell me true cost of getting a Dominican passport as website says 1650 peso but I am being quoted 2000US $
yes, it's 1650 RD$. I just did it for my wife a week ago online. The website is extremely "picky" with the picture that you need to upload. In case you have to take the picture, ask the photographer to send them also to your email. This should work.

If you are in the DR posts #24 and 25# would be the way. Is this passport for you or someone you are trying to help?

Please see post #7. They have even provided the link to the very right page, hence my question, which has remained unanswered, where did they get the doubt and the figure 2000 USD from...

For any naturalized Dominicans, it can only be done at the Direction de Passaportes on the Malecon in Santo Domingo. Cost is $5300, you can pay with cash or credit card right there at the booth. Impressively organized, appointment done online. Come back two weeks later to pick it up.

I checked the links provided and before de amount says RD$ that mean Dominican Pesos currency.
And hence the question asked a few times on this thread: Where did the figure 2000 USD come from / who quoted that? There hasn't been an answer provided this far as far as I can see...

It sounds to me as if he or she has to start with residency and saw an offer from a lawyer to help him or her out.

That is probable, but 2,000 USD would be a pretty good price to go from no residency to DR passport.

I had heard that if one is a naturalized citizen, the only way to renew a Dominican passport is in Santo Domingo and that take two trips there to accomplish.
They don't seem to trust the local passport renewal offices with this. They have been too corrupt. Just another ridiculous thing you find out about with regards to the DR system. If anyone has become a naturalized DR citizen and recently renewed their passport outside of Santo Domingo in a satellite passport office, please let me know.
