I doubt that its cheaper to buy water plus you dont know what shithole they took it from

For us, this is the main problem with truck water... I don't know what happened, but ever since the city management in POP changed last year (Coraaplata including), we've had zero problems with water... Before that we had to resort to water truck every few months... The problem was not getting one, the problem was not paying for it (500 pesos), the problem was the quality... Our cistern was contaminated on each truck load... Our neighbors, who have lived here for more than a decade, advised that in particular because we have small kids, please try to rationalize as much as you can (we do) to avoid getting water truck... You can never be certain of the quality... Ever since we have not used one single truck load of water, our cistern is always crystal clear with just a tiny bit of sediment (that we can vacuum) in the bottom...

EDIT: we get water from Coraaplata two days a week, when they completely fill the cistern... That is not 24/7 obviously, but we get way more water than we would need... They have also been 99 % regular ever since the city management was changed...

I'm located in Perla Marina between Sosua and Cabarete on the North Coast in the DR. Close to the ocean and therefore too far away from the main water line as Corraaplata water delivery first fills all the cisterns and pools of the first half of Perla Marina and the farther away from the main line, the less likely it is to actually receive water as the pressure is also low.

Sometimes ya just haffta figure thingd out yaself.
Google "Sosua well drillers". SOV has had 6 + wells drilled this week. Ask them. Drill trucks parked on main road in Sosua... ask around?
I have other sources looking but:

Most wait for others to solve and fix their problems while complaining all the way. Poor is me.
A few recognize the problem and fix it.

Good advice....

Find a guy doing work in the area and bring him over
Works especially well with asphalt trucks !

Just ask around.... in person, not on a website....at least for something like this

No offense meant

Jana, As you live in Perla Marina I hope you are a member of the Facebook Group " Perla Marina Community Information" as there is a lot of information about what is happening with the water situation in PM. If you are already a member of that Facebook group contact Sharon as she has had a well drilled recently. In Perla Marina water is quite close to the surface and you should not need to drill more than 40 Feet. It is a bit of a myth that all the water goes to those near the road as most of the big pipes take off water to Las OLas, Macquay and Blue Fish Condominiums. Blue Fish has its 3 inch connection turned off as they have a well and thanks to the Administrator in Blue Fish others have water.

Big developers take the water and usually have. They have more lines then reported or paying for. Then residential homes enter the water wars by diverting pipes cutting off those down from them. Some use in line booster pumps to suck out what they can usually burning out the pumps since they require water and the line is dry.

I've tried to give some suggestions and help. Last one is our plumber.

In the country side in Duarte close to SFM it is 300 pesos per feet . It is done by hand, 4 workers. They used a 20 feet steel tube. They add fews more until water comes. Mine was 60 feet x 300 = 18.000 pesos + submersible 1HP pump 10.000 pesos + 5.000 pesos for tubes and wiring. Total 33.000 pesos . A hell of a Job done in one day !

I had one well drilled, North Coast, about 5 or 6 years about and it was approx $1000 USD plus the pump. They had to go pretty deep and it ended up salty. Not worth it in that case.

About 6 years ago I paid about 1000 us dollars for 100 foot well. Luckily we got water. We were up high si I bought some adjacent property closer to a river so we could get the water near a water table

Hey Jana,

Perla Marina.. You're going to have a couple of problems drilling your own well there. First one "Probably" will be the development itself not allowing private wells.. IF they did allow you to drill a well, you are so close to the ocean that the best you could hope for is a shallow well jetted down to say maybe 40 ft.. Then you would have all of the iron, Manganese, and salt intrusion to deal with.. I'm not saying that you can't put together your own water system because it can be done no mater what quality water the well puts out.. I'm simply stating facts that you will need to deal with..

Good news is that drilling a shallow well is fairly cheap and easy with most people doing it themselves or even putting together a drilling party.. Jetting a shallow water well is a fairly simple process..

jstarebel You obviously dont live in Perla Marina otherwise you would know that there are many areas where water is close to the surface and indeed some of the sink hole in PM have water in them. Even Blue Fish uses well water and it is close to the ocean. Jana I believe live in Sol De Plata Gardens and there is a problem of Salinity there.

You're right Olly, I don't live in Perla Marina which is why I used the term "Probably"... Have you or the team ever heard of it before?? I will say that I've been involved with more water projects in my life throughout the DR and the Caribbean than you and the teams total life years combined.. Salinity?? NO way Salt water in shallow wells close to the ocean?? Tell me it's not true.. Whatever makes you and the team feel all powerful Olly.. Help yourself.

Looks like another post that the OP never returns to.
As I've posted. Alternatives and solutions are available. Ya just have to figure out what is best for you.
I know of 30 plus wells drilled within 500 yards of the ocean. 1 has fresh water according to the owner... and that person is always lucky according to her.
But the op has disappeared so what is the point?
(Recent rains filled us up.)

60' well will all tubes, and a .75 hp pump for around $70,000 dop.

Prices for deeper have been around $700dop-$900dop per foot plus tube..
Is it rocky terrain? Is it deep?

Plus cost for pump.. depends on how deep and how much volume and pressure the size you will need at least 12,000 dop

Also crazy to offer prices per foot (American) for digging but per metre (rest of the world) for tube.. but this is the way it is...
