That's what kills me. It's like there's no buyer watching the consumption.

Nacional, Jumbo, and Bravo all do the same thing. It's like they buy one box of 12 at a time and throw it on the shelf, and when it's gone, they order more. No attempts at all to keep it on the shelf.

BTW, I just checked my cottage cheese. It's "best by" date is June 14. Still perfectly good.

The same goes for Silk Chocolate Almond Milk. Jumbo refuses to carry it, Sirena in San Cris and Bravo as well. I have to buy it at Sirena Luperon.

So I do the same thing, any time they have it, I buy it all.
That best by date is a bit bogus
Read up on it

Speaking for the north coast.... Sosua & Cabrera.... cottage cheese is a rare commodity.

Last Sunday, Playero had none..... my local orders it every week...... it comes when it wants

Breakstone is brand of choice it seems and their delivery is questionable, to say the least

I did get another brand at Nacional once..... but just once

I like it in the morning with my fruit.
Sorry for the maybe stupid question, can't you buy bwhen available and just freeze cottage chesse ??? Newver tried but with creamchesse i do thios all the time.

Cottage cheese

But there is a neat, very easy trick to prolonging its shelf life — just store it upside down. The tub will form a kind of vacuum seal, which will hinder the growth of bacteria. You can freeze it, too! Transfer to a freezer bag and it'll be good for two to three months.

I don't freeze mine, but I do store it upside down on the top shelf of my reefer. I am eating now that has a June expiration date and it's perfectly fine.

It's kind of funny, I saw this thread and got up and went to BRAVO to see if they had any. Ended up grabbing a whole bunch of stuff and checked out without even checking to see if they had any. LOL

ahhh a thread for cottage cheese.

I’m thinking of a place with monkeys and a sled A brand new jar of cottage cheese just resting on the bed An envelope with butterflies upon the stamp it wears A basement sitting at the top of someone else’s stairs ~
A very special place where the beach is at your door And multicolored tangerines will help you mop the floor A casserole with tuna in a bowl of cocoa beans Where questions become answers or at least that’s what it seems ~
A place where you will notice that the sun it always shines And toaster ovens tick away below the shuttered blinds Jeopardy is on the tube wherever you may go Antiques shuffle down the street as every road will show ~
When you are in this special place a trolley will say hi A weeping willow sings a song as it forgets to cry Hibiscus on the front porch welcome all who do drop in The price it has been lowered as the morning comes again ~
You’ll see while in this special place a necklace on a whale And smiles at the dollar store they always are on sale A seagull and a crescent moon now share the skies above But most of all while in this place you’ll see that you are loved ~
You will learn this special place it lives within my heart To offer you a haven when we find we are apart A sanctuary nestled deep that always will be true For here within this special place I always will love you

That fruit wouldn't be prunes?
My dad ate it with peaches
Cottage cheese and pineapple is a good combination. As far as cottage cheese being hard to find, good ricotta is hard to find in Samana also. I once was going to Las Terrenas for some ricotta, and I asked a local restaurant owner if he wanted some. He said, "for what?". Isn't ricotta mandatory for a lot of Italian dishes like Calzones? Calzone with just mozzarella cheese is just chewy monotony.

Yes. Ricotta is used in lasagna, ravioli, manicotti, others(?).

I like it with crushed pineapple(in juice - no sugar added), cantelope, and strawberries.

My favorite by far is onions, but I've had it with quite a few fruits and even once with sugar.
