Omicron is already in the DR. In a few weeks it will be 80% of cases. Last week Spain had 15% now it has 70% of cases due to Omicron and 60,000 daily cases (mostly asymptomatic). And they have 80% of vaccination rate. All I see is a possible return of curfews, since they have little impact on AI tourism. Nothing more. AI tourism is what it is all about.
As you mentioned, I think cruising requires one to prove they are vaxed, so they don't face any other restrictions not already in place and already have set times to be off and on board.
What makes you think Omicron is not already spreading like a wildfire in the DR? It takes just one case...
It's in the DR already but lack of sequencing is why it's not so widely reported.
And I don't think DR population will accept another curfew. Not when they see Omicron ranging worldwide with mostly asymptomatic cases, very few deaths, and lower total hospitalization numbers compared to Delta variant, all the while being multifold more infectious than Delta.
