President Luis Abinader announced that a cruise ship will dock in Cabo Rojo, Pedernales on the southwesternmost coast of the Dominican Republic every eight days starting in October 2024. This frequent service is part of a comprehensive plan developed by major cruise lines for the region, including Carnival Cruise Line, the Ministry of Tourism reports.
Minister of the Presidency Joel Santos added that the new port recreational area is projected to welcome one million tourists within the next three years. To accommodate this influx, two new hotels, each with around 500 rooms, are slated to open in Pedernales in 2025.
These developments, coupled with the recently constructed Cabo Rojo port, underscore the government’s commitment to boosting tourism in Pedernales, says the press release.
