Libre Transito confusion makes a lot of sense to me.

I can see it now, the PN stops ya after 5pm but before 7pm while you are "in transit"
and the conversation goes something like this -

PN: "Where ya headed to gringo?"
PN: "Ya know the curfew started at 5pm today."
GRINGO: "Well I was told I can be in transit until 7pm."
PN: "No, the curfew is 5pm, wait right here please"
- walks over to the other officer then returns to your vehicle -
PN "ok, we're going to let you off with a warning this time
and a small fine"

Happened to me already, 30-45 before curfew.
Replace gringo with Morena, me, confused, frantically looking for my phone to check the time and last sentence: it s ok, you can go, by the way, do you have whatsapp

I am sure whoever made this curfew, and then adjusted it on weekends to 12 noon... thought it was a great idea, but....just look in the barrios every night...one big party.

5am to 5pm seven days a week sounds likely.

I think the 5am to 12 noon was just to get through the holiday period with fewer big social gatherings.

People will adjust and big crowds in the supermarket should lessen as people get accustomed to the new schedule.

I am wondering how the guys and street girls are managing. 5 pm to 5 am is a long time, and 12 noon to 5 pm is even longer. Unlikely that most spend the entire time in bed. Do we need to start stocking books and board games in our rental apartments:)
Books and board games lol. Netflix and free wifi, that's all you need.

This makes so much sense. It's like 00 at a crap table...the house always wins. Imagine a gringo, or EVEN a native says "But, but, but the curfew is plus the travel time...." and the PN say "Huh???" Caso cerrrado. Propina time.

On this coming Saturday and Sunday you do not have that 2 hours grace period to get home. At least on paper you do not.

I understand, why do you have time to get home on some day and on others you don't ? It makes no sense, give people time to get home everyday then, be consistent.
The answer is the banking industry, Govt services, along with the airport operations, Ask yourself what time does your bank close on a Saturday? Also check the 4 major DR airports and their peak arrival times for all commercial and cargo flights, especially PUJ ;)

You forgot. PN: and we will escort you home to make sure you get home safely during the curfew.

The way I see it is it's basically for the 2 weekends they encourage people to stay home. It's on the weekends that places get over crowded.
I hope the numbers will get better on Jan 10 and they go back to previous curfew.

Banks don't open on Saturdays during this nonsense.

Tossing hundreds into jail cells every night will certainly help stop the spread, won't it? Regular folks are now treated like criminals. No way Luis is going to get a second term in office after this.
