As El Caffeto is more of a place that people stop at, when they are passing by on the way to elsewhere, El Cumbre doesn't feel like a destination. Not surprised to hear that they didn't make a go of it.

Yep. Always been my "Cappuccino and a cigar" stop.

I haven’t been to El Caffeto for years. I tend to prefer El Molino. The food is better- although was not quite as good more recently. It must depend on what day you go and who is the cook.

So JD meant La Cumbre on the other road? What is the name of that place? No that I live
In Jamao I never use that road.
Is El Caffeto still open? It always looks closed when I pass. I also go for El Molino, although the last time I went we had to wait forever for the food to arrive. Normally I wouldn't mind, because the view is great, but we had to go and pick up a car in Moca.

Thanks NCD, Somebody told me the hotel close by has closed already. Any info on that?
There was something fishy about it but no one knows what. It was only open- I think less than a year and then, closed. Now there is a sign that it is owned by some co-op. But still it is in ann abandoned condition. And the coffee place next to it has a for sale sign.

A strange thing also about the resort type of place down the mountain just outside of San Victor. Remember they had about 6 Dalmatians there for security? And were selling - I don’t know- time shares or memberships or something. That was there a few years and really looked like a special place although never, never did I see anyone there. Now for about three years it is abandoned.

I wonder if it were land ownership problems or money laundering, or property taken because of drug arrests. Actually I have no idea but things like this make my imagination run wild.

Now that you mention it, I don't ever recall seeing a dalmatian here.

I was there in April. Same staff and food. As usual we enjoyed! I was thinking about a visit next week.

I just saw a post from someone about WW's property for sale. Can you be so kind and send me a link? I can't find it and I can't find the post now either.

Beautiful place, with separate guest cottages if I remember correctly from photos he sent me years ago. I wonder what happened to his dogs, he loved them.

I looked in the Perdomo website and could not find it….unless they were considering the location Río San Juan. But I thought he was in Cabrera.

Yes he was in Cabrera, and those photos don’t look familiar to me, but I was never there in person.

I'm always fascinated by a white kind of scandinavian style hotel as you go up the zig-zaggy part of the mountain, it's on a bend. Apparently it's open but I have never seen any cars there and never been able to find a listing for it. Must have nice views, but I just wonder what kind of hotel it is, who stays there. Always catches my eye.

You underestimate your abilities EHM. I would never refer to you as a commoner. Despite our differences on many posts, I’ve developed a grudging respect for you and your insights on DR life as did WW. I enjoyed the banter between you and WW and the Magoo name he gave you. His diplomatic way of telling you not to be myopic with your views. By the way, I noticed his home is still listed for sale in Cabrera with Century 21. I assume it’s Bill’s. It was listed shortly after he died.

That's the one. There's only 3-4 Cabrera properties on Century 21 and all of them are more than I am going to spend at my age.

I wonder what happened to his YJ.
