We (my husband and I) have found that leaving on a radio keeps the dogs from barking and howling. I know it uses electricity but as long as the radio is on they don't get lonely. Just a thought . . . . .
When I worked in medical research, we had to have a TV on in the room where we housed the monkeys.
It was to keep them mentally stimulated.
Their favorite show was "Wheel Of Fortune".
They went wild when "Vanna" turned the letters.

Maybe the dogs would prefer "Animal Planet".
