Dogs squad discovers contraband of 6,000 ecstasy pills at Las Americas International Airport

Ecstasy is a stimulant drug that can cause hallucinations. The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), working with the the Airport Security Corps and members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, seized 6,195 suspected ecstasy pills at the Las Americas International Airport on Tuesday, 27 September 2022.

The anti-narcotics agents were carrying out a routine inspection in one of the terminal’s warehouses when a canine unit alerted of strange substances in a box, inside which there were children’s toys and clothes.Subsequently, in the presence of a deputy prosecutor, the agents proceeded to make a more thorough search, finding eight sheets filled with the pills, embedded with a special glue in the lower and upper lids of the box.
