Dominican construction sector proves its resilience

The Dominican Association of Portland Cement Producers (Adocem) says that domestic cement consumption decreased 20.3% in the first half of the year, compared to the same period in 2019. Despite the collapse of activities due to Covid-19, the construction sector promptly resumed activities. The new Abinader administration has promised to kickstart the Dominican economy carrying out several works all around the country.

In its bulletin, Cementando, Adocem reports that cement production during the January-June period this year was 2,150,200 metric tons, for a 23.5% decline compared to 2019.
