For us, the biggest surprise was that Mr AE’s DNA is mostly Portuguese. Followed by Spain, but we expected that. I’m a very boring 96% Italian 3% Central/Eastern European 1% Malta.
I did Ancestry in 2018. I have it on their App. My result. The DNA profil changes as they get more results around the world.

Thatz’s an interesting read but given how diverse is the DR from region to region, how the results will be and whether they are very representstive to most Dominicans does depends where you get the samples from.
100%

Now I'm not sure how and when these samples were collected but if they did cheek swabs throughout the greater Cibao region up to Puerto Plata over Nagua, there's a good chance they picked up some of my DNA...

I'm part Danish (as in the pastry), Russian (from the vodka) and Mexican (I ingest tacos) but of course I have high cheekbones so that makes me 1/1084 of something.

And my pronouns are He/Ha/Victim

Just for the record, here is an example of an unintended consequence of these DNA tests, specifically those from 23andme.

23andMe DNA kit leads to shocking diagnosis for Ky. woman

In December 2022, Debbie Moody purchased a 23andMe DNA testing kit.

“I’m so thankful for 23andMe for the information they provided, had they not, it’s no telling how long it would have been before I found out, and what damage it would have done to my lungs,” said Moody. “Right now, it’s attacked my pancreas, but, you know, it’s a matter of time for my lungs and other organs.”

The question now is, how many of the Dominicans that have done these tests have discovered things that greatly impacted them?
