Watching Jeopardy.

Jeopardy contestant (looking over the categories):

"I'll take 'GOOGLE' for two hundred Alex".

Alex Trebek reading the Jeopardy clue :

"The Answer Is . . .

"DOMINICAN INGENUITY' "

Contestant's answer (in the form of a question):

"What is the first example given when you 'google' the word OXYMORON?"

hahahaha

whole point of this thread is to debunk that theory/idea

and the posts prove it !!

fix it for zero......or not much

read back and learn..... very ingenius

They melt styrofoam to fix leaks

I had termites recently - came from my light switch
they come thru the electrical system - the tubing

We doused the tube w/ killer stuff.... they returned

My main man took a paper towel
saturated it w/ the insecticide and stuffed it behind the switch plate

Gone like snow in July - those termites!!!

another ingenious solution

OK, your thread.

INGENIOUS.

For me,

well, RESOURCEFUL . . .

Able to put available resources to efficient use: e.g. using materials at hand wisely or efficiently.

INGENIOUS . . . ???

Displaying genius or brilliance?

I don't know . . .

Haven't seen any satellite launches here on the north coast lately . . .

Who was that last Nobel Laureate from the Dominican Republic???

OK, Not fair.

How about potable water, 24/7 electricity, working and efficient postal system . . .

Semantics perhaps . . .

I agree - they can fix almost anything here. In the US and Canada we have too much of a "repair by replace" mentality.
that's why my shop supervisor call me Magic wand, when the American technology fails to fix a problem then it is time for the dominican ingenuity...

Maybe not ingenious... but new to me !!

I have rec'd mail before.... at the local office.... by accident
I was in front of the office, the girl came out and asked me if I knew a Wm Webster!!

It was my mail... My Cdn pension checks - $7,000 +
She said they had another in Nagua for tomorrow....

I immediately switched to direct deposit

This week - someone is yelling at my gate - William, William
The mail.... albeit Oct 2020 mail...../

But they have found me !!

LUCK???
I doubt it

My rental car's battery dies. A group of Dominican men gather around and then start stopping passing vehicles. Open hood, look, close hood, wave on. This happened about 10 times before there was a cheer. They told me to get in my car and turn the key and they flipped the other guy's battery upside down and touched the posts. Who cares about battery acid dripping all over the place. Fired right up. Its what you do when nobody carries jumper cables.
And the good Samaritan's battery will be dead in a week
