Dominican Republic Supreme Court seeks public input on digital courtroom overhaul

The Supreme Court (SCJ) has opened a public consultation on proposed amendments to the regulations in Law 339-22 of 2022, that governs the use of digital tools in the judicial system. The SCJ says the aim is to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accessibility of judicial services through advanced technology.

The proposed changes, detailed in a recent announcement, would introduce a range of digital innovations, including:• Digital case files: A centralized system to manage cases across different jurisdictions, streamlining processes and reducing paperwork.

• Online payments: A platform for electronic payments of court fees and taxes, improving efficiency and transparency.

• Digital signatures: Legally binding digital signatures on court decisions, eliminating the need for physical copies.
