The discrimination many deportees face in the DR is a well known topic. There isn’t much that can be done about that.
Call centers higher many of the deportees because many of them are fluent in English, which is a requirement. In fact, some call centers advertise employment spots in English only. Many sectors are as welcoming to deportees as call centers are.
They are left going into the informal economy or committing crimes or both. The lucky ones have family members in the USA (especially if they have one or both parents abroad, since many parents do ignore focusing on their kids became criminals -as in they intentionally prefer not to know what got their kids in trouble - out of sight, out of mind) and just focus that they are their kids) that send them remittances and that’s what they live from and not the informal economy or committing new crimes.
