Fighting chickens and cockrels in D.R.= great sporting and social event, societal elation and general happiness.

While not as popular, we also have corridas de toros, almost exclusively in El Seibo. I think its the only place in the Spanish Caribbean where that Hispanic sport has survived. I think on the mainland this is still practiced in Mexico and in Colombia, maybe in a handful of additional countries too.
