Relax. There are thousands of Bridges in Europe or the US in far worst condition.

That bridge is ready for largest disaster ever on Dominican Soil if they don't act quickly to fix it. I remember I rode over it and I could feel very bumpy so I knew this bridge is too old. I'm surprised it's still standing since then.

I am sad/glad that the focus is now on public infrastructure needing maintenance or replacement and the public calling the Government to act on it (y)
Sad because it took a lot of lives. I hope they do the same for the blessed motos and roll out strict enforcement but that might be a bridge too far (pun unintended)

That bridge is well over its utility life. With good maintenance such could be extended, but…

That was said by someone that at that time (quite a few years ago) worked for the MOPC said based on what they discovered. Until then it was taken as a possibility of modifying the bridge to allow the SD Metro trains cross over the river through that instead of a new dedicated bridge. Once the condition of this bridge was detected, building a new bridge for the Metro wasn‘t an option.

That bridge was built by Dr Balaguer, the banks of the Ozama River were devoid of human habitations, as green as they have always been.

I've walked across that bridge from the Gualey side @ E.Brito (were talking 2013) and I remember the holes in the sidewalks crossing the bridge looking straight down to one's death.

Par for the course. Maybe they'll do something about it in the future...
or maybe not.
