With a delay of six years, the Chamber of Deputies approved on 4 December 2024 the resolution ratifying the Air Services Agreement between the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and the Dominican Government. The agreement had been signed in Nairobi, Kenya, on 12 December 2018.
The agreement with The Bahamas grants, among other provisions, the following rights to both parties: 1) the right to fly over the other party’s territory without landing; 2) each party grants the other specified rights for the operation of international air services on the routes outlined in the Route Schedule; and 3) the right to make stops in the other party’s territory at designated points along the specified route to embark and disembark international traffic of passengers, cargo, and mail, either separately or in combination, while operating the agreed service.
