DR Eticket: Whoa! New fees?

Hello all,
When I left the D.R. for Germany I went to the Eticket.gob.do site, filled out the form, received my QR code, no problems. Now that I'm returning ditto except when I click Submit I'm told I must pay $45.00 for a tourist visa. No way, so I aborted and will not complete the form.

Last I knew the TEN DOLLAR tourist card fee was included in your ticket and U.S. citizens pay nothing to enter the country.

New policy or new scam?

Scam. Almost happened to me. The link is made to appear genuine but it is not. It was when they asked for payment, I checked. Totally fake

All the scammers do is put down your info on the real Gov. site and then charge the fee. I guarantee they make a pretty penny or peso.............

All airlines send with the email the inforamtion and the link to fill the eticket, but unfortunatly no body read it.

Anytime you search for a website you run the chance of being directed to the wrong site if you don't pay attention to the details of the search result. Those who need to use the DR Gov eticket site more than a couple of times should create a bookmark in their browser and use that to reduce the risk of ending up on a site that tries to charge you for something that is still supposed to be cost free to use. Where someone on the internet sees a way to fleece an unsuspecting and poorly informed traveler they will try to do so. They keep doing it because some of these misdirected travelers end up paying because they do not know not to.
