I think perhaps you misunderstood my post ,
but thank you for the Like

I was not posting it against one poster, or for the benefit of another ..
I was just stating a Fact about another guy who got thrown out of he country ..

Lots of guys have been HASSLED at the Airport , only the Dominicans know the REAL Reasons ..

Yes, it COULD be Racism .. or it could be something like I posted ..
They could be targeting certain Demographics , yes .. all of this could be true
and not necessarily Mutually exclusive ..
Now others up in here have challenged my reading comprehension skills.
And it appears that you are doing the same.
I don't give out likes to make others feel good.
Nor is it personality contest with me like with others.
I click the like because I agree or appreciate what the poster wrote.
If you felt the need to clarify yourself when I did not ask for any that is on you.
I understood post #57 perfectly.
And I understand post #59.

Just goes to show me that I can write "the sky is blue" and someone will challenge it.
Or "Good Morning" and someone will say "No it isn't."

Here and there
Most Haitians don't enter the country by or under the cover of darkness. They walk across the border in broad daylight, paying those who are supposed to stop them.

In my opinion, skin colour has EVERYTHING to do with it. I can't see otherwise why my dark-skinned Dominican friend has been arrested and detained several times. I have also heard a couple of stories (which I can't prove) of dark Americans being arrested.
Of course it does and those arguing against have very little to use as fact or evidence to the contrary.

Someone posted about "white" Haitians. I've met a few, and they were all very wealthy. No one card that they were Haitian because in that case, GREEN was all that mattered.

Instead of focusing on just skin colour, it should be noted that the real reason, regarding current immigration, is that the Haitians coming to the DR, the ones that Dominicans are concerned about, are the poor ones, without sufficient GREEN, so they use their predominantly darker skin colour as a tool for seeking them out in the DR. THAT is why skin colour is an issue here and now.

Here and there
Darcy where did JD post any info from another website. He merely commented that DR Immigration keeps stats on deportations and the info is available if you so desire.

Where do you think he got his information from?
DR Immigration keeps stats on deportations by country. Feel free to look it up.

Where was he directed me to look it up if not online from the website he got it from?

D’Arcy, you’re on thin ice again. Links are required when someone quotes directly from a website. JD’s post didn’t quote anything, stop it now because each time you enter the Sin Bin it will be for progressively longer times.

" but OTOH
Entering ILLEGALLY , Like if one of us were to take a BOAT into the DR under the cover of darkness, you would be in a World of Problems , when exposed , because they will assume you were involved in some pretty shady activity ..
Skin color has NOTHING do do with it .

Where in my ABOVE statement did you deduce that " one of us" = a Haitian ?

First I separated with On the other Hand
and then was specifically speaking about SNOW BIRDS and OTHER Expats et al , " like us" , if one were also to choose to enter the Country, Illegally , I even gave the Boat Example . as compared to Haitians.

I'm confused by your confusion . I thought it was pretty clear
maybe I need a Law Degree to post further .
2nd time my English Skills were questioned in same thread .
Sorry if I misunderstood.

So are you saying that if Haitians were predominantly white they would be treated differently? They would be welcomed with open arms by the DR?
Yes, they probably would be treated differently because they would not be stopped and arrested in the street because of their appearance. I imagine the authorities would treat them like any other Haitian if they were arrested for some reason

Few things here.

Going forward : do not quote someone and strike out their comments ever again. SMH

Also, let me try again; again.

drstock was discussing Haitians and said the current situation with them and that what has happened to his friend has everything to do with color.

I asked HIM that if HE thinks things would be different if Haitians were to be predominantly white.

Again, my questioned NOT answered. I am expecting an answer from him to understand his frame of mind further.
Now answered above. Sorry, but I have other things to do than being on this site all the time.

After 71 posts regarding "700 Haitian expelled every day", which post altered that FACT? Basically this tread addressed issues of racism in the DR. This is old, very old news. Nothing new here at all. So anybodymdisputing that 700 Haitians are NOT expelled everyday?

I believe that the article speaks an important segment of the 🇩🇴 population.
And I have no reason or facts to challenge the numbers presented in the article that is presented to us in full in post #2.

Yet there are thousands of Americans, Canadians, Italians and Venezuelans living here illegally so why should they not be rounded up and deported also.
DGM sometimes does report about people from other countries either being deported or not admitted. These include Cubans, Venezuelans and Americans. https://migracion.gob.do/cookie-pie-pie-carrot-cake-powder-pudding-dragee/. I see that they are also covering smaller provinces, which don't really have too many foreigners from other nationalities, but that now have lots of Haitians.

Having said that, I don't know where you're from, but I doubt that your country has the exact same immigration policies and rules for citizens of each and every other country in the world. Immigration rules are rarely equal to everyone. Each country sets them depending to its needs, and what is convenient at the moment.
Why do people from certain countries need visas to enter the U.S. and Europe, while others don't? Why are people from a particular nationality allowed to work in another country, while others aren't? I've heard Dominicans complaining about why we need visas to enter the US, but Americans can come here visa free. I don't have a problem with that. I understand that the behavior of many Dominicans has paved the way for being imposed those visa requirements.

If the DR has found it convenient that people from certain countries can enter on a tourist card, stay longer, and pay a fee upon exit, I don't have a problem with that either.

LOL. Just yesterday the doorbell rings which is unusual because nobody ever comes up to our floor unanounced or uninvited. It's the census woman with a member of our security team My wife answers the door and answers the question about being a citizen. The lady sees me working with my laptop. Who dat she asks. My wife, bless her heart,...doesn't answer and asks I come to door. I quickly tell the census gal I'm not a citizen so count me out. She insists that she is to count EVERY PERSON IN THE HOUSEHOLD. I tell her that's incorrect for a census. She said -whats your name? I said-Have a good day and security guy gives me a thumbs up and a big smile while I close the door. This morning I noticed a sticker on my door stating this apartment was counted. How many she noted...who knows??

The only reason DR is not US territory is because of Haiti.
Yes way back in the 1800s US though about signing a trade similar to Puerto Rico but when the Americans politicians who made decision at that time realized that buying the orange the seeds will be included in the deal they changed their minds...

Three more days to run before the census time expires and still absolutely no one that I know of ,including myself, has seen a census collector or the security person. The last census said the DR had 10,953,714 people living here, a most precise figure and so I wondered if the daily deportee figure was equally precise. By the way , according to the official site ,all people resident in the house should be counted whether a citizen or not so the census collector was correct and she no doubt counted you in as an illegal!!

They have been swarming my neighborhood for a week. They even count the houses that are unoccupied and note that they are empty. They come back at least three times if nobody is home. We know quite a few of the census takers, former students or clients. The four women doing our area are from the neighborhood. Census usually does count the non-citizens and make note of their country of origin.
