The Ministry of Public Health announced the state-owned Dr. Defilló National Laboratory now has equipment that can identify the genetic code to differentiate between one strain and another in the case of the Covid-19. Until now, suspect samples had to be sent to the US Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Now, health authorities will be able to identify any strain of unknown diseases that may occur. The equipment will enable local epidemiologists to better track the virus and monitor infections.

Possibly, but knowing who the enemy is and where it is located makes for better public health planning. For some, it will make the government decisions on curfews and closures more palatable. Others will still find it harder to digest. If this helps the DR tourism industry in any way, then its a positive thing in my view. If it helps to lower the infection spread, then that’s a definite bonus. It’s also nice to see the DR having the same in-house analytical capabilities as other nations. There is no reason for them not to compete on the world stage. Of course, It’s another indicator of the new administration’s commitment to controlling the pandemic. It may payoff in votes three years from now. I’m sure there are political reasons for the purchase of analytical equipment.

Not gonna pay off.
People are fed up.
It's shame they don't have the same "in house capabilities" when it comes to educating their children.
Any advice for the folks who owned bars, clubs and restaurants catering to the night life (of which there were thousands)???
Saving lives? Sure.
