The 10th Summit of the Americas is planned to take place in Punta Cana during Oct 2025. If the US President is to participate, is it a hope a new US ambassador to the DR be introduced?

It was funny when they hosted that big summit for world leaders in Santo Domingo last year. They completely resurfaced the road from the airport to the convention center, teams of guys working round the clock to make it pretty. And all the leaders had a big cavalcade to make sure those were the only roads they saw. Shame they didn't take them to Gualay to see the real Santo Domingo.

I imagine it will be the same in Punta Cana.

Ooh I would beg to differ. Most people who come to DR stay in all inclusives in Bavaro and they only see a shiny airport shiny new roads and a shiny hotel. I have taken many people on the Teleférico that runs from Gualey so they can see the reality of the barrio where so many Dominicans live and they are always quite shocked and humbled.
