The United States Customs and Border Protection Deputy Commissioner Troy Miller and Dominican Republic Minister of Foreign Relations Roberto Álvarez signed a memorandum of understanding on 30 September 2022 formally initiating negotiations to include the Dominican Republic among the Global Entry foreign partner countries. The initiative expedites entry procedures to US territory.

Dominican citizens who apply and get approved to participate in Global Entry will be able to enter the US using the control kiosks in the Federal Inspections Service areas of 85 airports in the US and other countries. The officials highlighted the strong cooperation between the two countries on immigration matters and enforcement against organized crime.

Successful Global Entry applicants will also benefit from the TSA PreCheck program for expedited screening at security control for domestic and...

Wouldn't that be nice if we could do Global Entry in and out of the DR.
But leaving Miami it has become a joke. You most often have to wait in line with the hoy paloy, so there is no fast boarding for your fee.

Great news for Dominican citizens.

CB, Global Entry is all about arriving to the US and avoiding huge lines at Customs.

What are you talking about when leaving?

Thank you in advance for any info. Im a U S citizen and am a little confused about this. Is this something like the drivers license we had to change to travel internationally that noone ever checks?

Exactly.

And if you have Global Entry, you also have TSA Pre-check.

One is for exiting the US in a more expedited and less intrusive fashion (TSA-Pre-check) and the other (Global Entry) is just that......for rapid entry only.

Often times what happens to those with a late flight is that the TSA shuts down its expedited pre-check line and those passengers must now be screened in the regular lines. Perhaps that is what CB is referring.

David, Global Entry is a US customs service for US citizens that allows them to avoid long lines at customs when arriving to the U.S.
When you have Global Entry, it also gives you TSA Pre-check so you don't have to wait in normally huge lines to go through the Customs check in.

Totally different.

See the website;

If you travel internationally, even sporadically, it is worth the price......if you qualify.

Nice one, I didn't know that. Might be worth applying for.

Why aren't Canadians on that list?
Canada has something called NEXUS.

Fundamentally the same.......just a different name............

Absolutely. I've had it since it first became available when I was doing a ton of traveling. I don't travel at all now but I still keep it up to date.

Just a trip through Miami customs makes it worth it's weight in gold.

It is definitely worth it if you travel frequently IMO. Unfortunately, the last few times I've used it for entry the lines to access Global Entry were rather long. Not to mention the wait time for approval once you have submitted your application.

Some credit cards offer it as a perk...........if not, it is only $100.00 for 5 years.......

Came through Boston from the DR in July on Jetblue. Santiago, Santo Domingo, Jamaica and a 777 Emirates Dubai flight all landed within minutes of one another. Lines at immigration were quite long. The only people at Global Entry were flight crew and my party.........................

Nope even in Miami at mid day check-ins you go through regular lines
