Well if this is true why were 31,000 street lights damaged in a year or did they with 5 years to organize repairs ?
Edenorte doesn't even check lights not on the main highway, and only those after months of being out.
Maybe EdeSur is way ahead in service

Not sure, but aren't the bulbs on street lights (at least that turn on slowly) material that really cannot handle blackouts/brownouts that well or voltage/frequently changes, so that might break those more often that they should break?

On the other hand, as what should be a part of normal work for the EDEs made news, perhaps they are really letting us know that they have actually achieved something?

Blackout too often cause these lights go out of service. Dont they understand?
As an electrical engineer, I cannot see a reason that blackouts will shorten the lifespan of the street lights. They are just off when there is no power.

Perhaps the new lights that are being installed of an LED style can be damaged by voltage spikes and there are plenty of those that happen.

Don't forget theft of power lines. That's a biggie.

The reason I thought of this was if they are fluorescent lights, as those aren't really meant to be frequently turned off and then back on quickly, appears that I was mistaken.

I think that Edenorte sold off half of their lamps on the north coast to Edensur because they sure as shit don't have many here on the NC, and most of those that are here don't work!

Indeed, but I was referring to why the lights could be damaged. Do people steal the aluminum power lines as well?
Thank the gods we don't have that issue in my region.

It took 2 years for the dimwits at Edenorte to respond to repeated requests to fix three lamps near my house. One of those stopped working about 3 months later. Don't get me started on their lack of response at cutting back trees hitting power lines. Pathetic, they are.
