There is a reason why prostitution is called the oldest profession in the world. Someone needs to come up with an idea to turn Sosua into a win/win situation to make everyone happy.

"To all that saying about the girls with galaxys in Los Cheramicos:
Go there in low season on rainy days and you will see if you want to see: hunger, pressure from home, desperacion, illness, shame, violence, drugs."

Its pretty obvious you don't spend anytime in Los Charamicos (not Cheramicos) during low season, or high season either for that matter. If I had to guess you have probably never really spent any time there at all, so please stop talking so negative about the place. Its full of good hard working middle class Dominicans, several of whom are very good friends of mine.

Just boot everyone who is whining out and everyone will be happy. In other words get ignore those who are trying to show offence yet love the rewards the girls bring into town.

If the business leaders want the girls out of the commercial areas, off the street, they should convince
some hotels to become "adult" hotels. The girls come to the hotel, leave ID with front desk, go to restaurant, pool,
mingle with the Johns, make some money. When they want to leave they pay hotel a cut or flat fee, hourly fee
and go home. Hotel can build out a shower facility for the girls also. Not talking about brand name resorts, but smaller
operators. BTW where do most do their business now.....in a "massage parlor"?

It would probably be easier to name the places they don't do their business now.

that would be profiting from prostitution and that's illegal. it could fly if they'd call it a day pass or simply charged room rate to the girls.

Computer generated serial numbers like bitcoins.
No more banks needed for distribution.
Electronic wallets.
Compared to current systems like USD: no much difference in serial number generation.
Coins could have a limited lifetime.
Regulation by algoritmn that could not be manipulated by an administration.
Currency not owned by a political administration.
Production of goods and distribution already is highly automated and will be much much more in the future.
Most of today jobs in transportaion (drivers), banking, amazon, agriculture, teachers will get lost the next years.
Humans are not needed, even if they would work for free.
The systems we were used to are currently collapsing.
I think time has come to act.

No thanks, The girls of Sosua are just fine. They don't need you to save them. Nothing makes me smile more than a chica walking on pedro with 5 inch spike heels, a short skirt, chewing gum saying "hola papi"

You're joking right, The whole island is damn brothel. car wash, stores, restaurants : it didn't take me long to figure out why the waitresses tell you what time they get off work.

Oh, my.

I'm looking forward to seeing how bitcoins will somehow prove to be the solution that is so badly needed in impoverished countries. Kinda reminds me of "In Time" with Justin Timberlake (a very entertaining movie, btw).

If humans survive 100 more years, which I doubt, life will actually be a combination of "In Time" and "The Island."

The DR govt is so stupid it has not figured a way to make a good profit from its most beautiful resources, hot chicas and its diverse ecosystem. Unless you dont count the genius flight taxes, fuel taxes and now the raises overstay fees.

What do you expect an 18 year old with a kid (most have) crying for milk, no money, no education, with no relatives having money, to do?
Any ideas?

Same as Mother, sister Aunty and Grandma, spend an hour or two a day with ugly fat dudes doing what they want to do. Look, selling pussy to these women is the same as a Cockney painting and decorating. If you're a bit thick with no options, do the easiest best paid job around. [/QUOTE]

Decent jobs: even for jobs in "zona francas" payment is rediculos low. Deduct transportation costs: modern world slavery.
A "morality sound" job requires a decent payment.
Alexander

It's not a modern world slavery at all. It's third world slavery which is not a modern society at all. Stop comparing your idea of what should be and what should really be.

It does happen like that except right now the John pas the hotel manager an upfront fee to allow 'Jessica' in for the night. No diff!

Where doing their business? Wow, you out of touch for about 30 years!

It does get tedious when you realise that many of these posters have no clue what they are talking about and have probably only heard of Sosua through salacious gossip.

They had that it was called Passions no? Having it behind closed doors in controlled environment is the best option anywhere on the globe. But that makes too much sense. You aint gonna stop it and why should they try?
Just my two cents.

i agree with you one hundred percent, and this might make people mad, but if the truth hurts, so be it. the first trip i made to the DR was on Dominicana, and the luggage was left in NYC. they told us it would be coming the next day. so, i needed toiletries, underwear, and odds and ends to hold me over to the next day. i spotted a lovely floor attendant, explained my situation, and told her i needed help getting the stuff. when it was all done, she followed me to the exit, and asked me where i was staying. i pointed to the hotel down the block, and left. an hour later i got a call from reception telling me that a girl was downstairs in the lobby looking for me, and if they should send her up.

Pimping is illegal, whoring is legal. It's made muddy deliberately. Something like it is legal to have sex for money but illegal to discuss a price before having sex. A man can offer a woman money after sex but a woman can not approach a man to sell sex. But third party pimping is just illegal which kinda makes places like Passions entirely illegal, but the law is also made muddy so that these places can operate on loopholes. Just like whole thing operates on a loophole.

ha it is a dom womans bithrite to sell.....she is allowed....she can ask what she wants to ask....Loopholes yes'''''but we as foreigners dont understand the dom. culture in that the ministers daughter also has the license to sell...his wife does ,,and his sister the same as his mother....as does senators and all high ranking officials...and of course they themselves know that their daughters have to do what a woman has to do to get that new italian handbag....well then they will do it and have that 500$us item... plenty of wealthy dom. men around...plenty...:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::cool::cool::cool::cool:

on the other hand, so few places in DR could be described as salacious... :cheeky:
