My next vehicle will be a hybrid or hydrogen fuel vehicle. Countries are starting to relax the legislative requirements for car manufacturers to reduce production of ICE vehicles. Crude oil prices are expected to remain low for the foreseeable future, especially if a recession sets in, so there isn’t much incentive to spend a fortune on an EV Now. There are incentives for buying a cheap EV with rapid charging for local commuting and keep the gas guzzler parked during the week. Cheaper crude oil prices won’t mean cheaper gas prices for DR consumers. What goes up in the DR never goes down. A small cheap Chinese EV with rapid charging capability and a 240 mile range might be feasible if it can lower the cost of living for DR citizens.I don't think I would. Lots of rapid charging technology is currently available. The question is the cost and whether/when it will be commercialy viable. Ditto batteries. I have 9 Tesla's arriving in mid/lateJune to the DR. 7 are for the Punta Cana Region and 2 will be headed to Pedernales. The people buying them are not worried about finding charging as they own their own commercial charging systems. Full EV's still receive a 50% reduction in import costs/fees/taxes/tariffs.Bloomberg News announced the Chinese EV industry has made a major advance in vehicle charging technology. They now have an EV that’s capable of going 400 kms/240 miles on a five minute charge. Five minutes is the average time it takes to fill the tank on a gasoline engined car. That’s a significant advance for EV technology. The potential for sales in the DR and other countries is getting better. The detractors now are tariffs and the elimination of the government subsidy when you purchase an EV.
Tongue in cheek, no one drives in the center of Santo Domingo, EV or otherwise......creep along yes, drive no.I have been with a few Ubers that were EVs. If you just drive in the center of Santo Domingo it may work. Not in Punta Cana or Samana for instance.
Yes, they are located all over the country. Last I read it was over 500 stations in 2021. I think the station in Punta Cana has something like 25 chargers. Is there currently any decent network of charging stations in the DR? I would assume at least in the capital they must have some but outside?
The one in PC Evergo has about 4 or 5 chargers and I have never seen a car charging. And I pass it almost every day.............Yes, they are located all over the country. Last I read it was over 500 stations in 2021. I think the station in Punta Cana has something like 25 chargers.
It would not surprise me if it's up around 750 by now

Question:Only if the EV cars are a lot cheaper and more economical to drive.
They are currently far too expensive for most . Zero interest form me in an EV.This is the future ! Regardless if some of us like it or not. All this critics remind me of the "professionals" defending regular Photo cameras against the Digital ones 30 years ago. 30 years already....omg i'm getting old
