Having grown up in the Pacific Northwest before the Mariners existed, I became a Reds fan around the age of 10 or so because they were on TV a lot during playoff time. Those "Big Red Machine" teams would be impossible to keep together now...not sure even the Dodgers or Yankees could afford the payroll to keep all those stars at today's payrolls. I expect De La Cruz will not be with the Reds much longer, because he will get some big offers elsewhere when that time comes.

Yeah, I'm sorry but it wouldn't hurt to diversify a bit. Maybe give folks at least a few weeks off from the baseball propaganda. They really shove it down your throats in DR. To be fair, Europe does the same with "football"

Diversify? It’s the Dominican Baseball forum.

When it comes to sports in DR, nothing comes close. Dolores covers basketball and volleyball, track, etc, in the news, and there’s barely a ripple of response here.

DR is baseball country!

The Reds currently hold control over Elly De La Cruz for the next 5 years, the 2029 season. Elly would be 27 when/if he were to hit FA in the fall of 2029.

The above is from some Reddit thread.

I watch/ follow more baseball now living here than at any other point in my life. Even as a sports cards collector while living in the states it was mostly NBA y NFL.

Elly is a special type of player for sure. While at a trading card show in Jacksonville, FL late last year I purchased a few packs 2024 Topps Chrome (Series 1) Baseball Cards and pulled a Elly De La Cruz Rookie Chrome Refractor Card from the first pack I opened, nice pull. Will send it off to PSA in San Diego to have it graded along with a few other cards next time I visit the states.

Definitely one to take care of and tuck safely sway! Sports cards are not a kid's thing anymore...remember that awful gum that used to come with a pack?
