I think you have to be a little realistic about this, being optimistic about the girls chances would be leading false hope. I've never seen a foreigner working in a hotel anywhere. The bar staff and restaurant staff in the area make around RD6000 per month (in reality most foreigners struggle to make that go a week, not including other expenses, although she says she has a free place to live, but I'd expect she might have to contribute to some extent). A young girl of 25, going to live with someone as the house help, being kept on that leash with limited freedom? Not going to work for the kind of money she'll get. So I really don't see where she fits in, anywhere.
It is nice to be optimistic for a change in this kind of enquiry, but I just feel it is pointless, sorry.
Unless there is a silver spoon opportunity I think it is self explanatory why there are no foreigners in these jobs anywhere, bar almost none.
Save, then have your 6months working when there is no pressure to make every peso count. It is not nice to stop off for a beer on your way home, buy a round of drinks and have a tapa and realise you've just blown a weeks wages in 10 seconds.
Just my opinion, why move into poverty if you have the option not to.

Hotels would definitely be the first place to look probably. You get a room a lot of the time so you don't have to worry about finding a place to live/rent in that case.

thats bs my mom who has been living there 8 months, her old roomate from sweden worked in the Hard Rock and then got some hotel job, probly as a server-which included a room to boot. My mom babysits, so that is also something to look into for those who have jobs and need someone to watch their kids (most people have kids there lol). I'm moving there in one month, and i have a job setup in a russian salon. it will be high season so i hope to make, well, something. If not i'll go to a hotel Salon or whatever i can get there. But you are right, i have my 1000$ of rent for 3 months saved up so i don't have to worry about that for a while. And why move, because my friend, they are happy there. They may be poor, but they are happy in way Americans could never live in America. This is why i go :)

last week I saw a sign in the Bakery in Cortecito that Ocean World was hiring, maybe you get to take care of dolphins or something like that, that would be fun for a 25 year old.. then again I have no idea what the jobs they are hiring for..

OMG YES!!! They may live poor but they're happier that way and I know for a certain that i'll be happy there as well. At least to have some sort of income and enjoy. Are you planning to move to Punta Cana?

What specifically is BS? If you think you can just walk into a hotel salon and be hired you are deluded. 'Some' staff in hotels get accomodation on campus, but it is not the norm, they are housed in multiples to a room in a nearby barrio, extremely cheaply, surrounded by barrio stuff and barrio mentality, it is not a live in position as most would know it.
I'm wishing you all the luck in the world, but just looking out for you to get real ONI how this most probably will pan out.
They are happy? Hmmm, working 16hour days for 4000 per month? Do you really think they are happy, maybe because they smile and stay up beat in front of others and visitors. But the reality is often very different. Now for someone who has an option to be working those hours, living in those conditions for that money? It's gunna be tough to be happy, but I like your optimism, good look.
