? Sterling down to 49 pesos at Victor's cambio PP this morning. That one I remembered, didn't have time to stop to make a written note of the others so won't post my recollections in case they're inaccurate.

Friday's rates at Victor's cambio (11am):
US$ 35.2
? 50
Euro 45
Cdn$ 27
Sw. Fr. 26
I guess Victor does not like Sw. Fr.

1 Canadian Dollar = 0.95747 Swiss Franc

Would a gringo who simply hands over cash get these rates?
I have noticed that some cambios' rates can vary at any given time, especially the ones who don't post them.

These were the rates at Playa Dorada last week but it would have been very easy to get 35 for the US$ and 26 for CDN$.
The Ban Reservas cambio at Fun Royale was paying 34.4-34.7.
I was getting 35.2 in Puerto Plata and Sosua.

The Globo cambio at the airport was offering 1 CDN$ for 28 pesos.
The Sky Service employee by the plane door was offering $20 CDN for 700 pesos, $1 CDN for 35 pesos. What a prick.:ermm:

Yes, the rates he posts are what you get for cash. If he knows you & it's a largish sum, you negotiate upwards. I think on the Swiss Franc he probably doesn't get many so his volume of turnover probably doesn't amount to much. Most of the Swiss I've come across here bring Euros.
