Victor's cambio Puerto Plata this morning Euro 44, ? 46, CDN$ 28, Swiss Franc 29, US$ 35.2 (the latter subject to currency fluctuation due weather, rain was streaming down Victor's board. I know it was 35. something and it looked like a 2 but could have been distorted by rain :ermm:).

I'm well and truely confused by all this now, I only work in Pesos. I can't believe this has happened over 6 months. So what would be advisible from the UK if people were visiting? I've just told them change into pesos but maybe I'm wrong:ermm:

Maybe changing Pounds to Dollars to Pesos would be an option worth exploring, or maybe withdrawing Pesos directly, from the ATM machine, would be better.

Hiya, There's not much to choose from to be honest when coming from the UK (the rate has fallen off a cliff in the last 7 months). I always bring $US with me when I come. Depending on the exchange rate there is very little difference between bringing $DOP, $US or ? other that places over here tend to like $US.
If you are a regular visitor save your $US until next time.

Can I also say a big thanks to FernieBee and Lambada for keeping the thread alive. I keep EMailing Victor but, unfortunately, he hasn't replied to the last four I have sent him so I am unable to post realistic info.

Will keep trying though :cheeky:

Am flying into Pto. Plata on Saturday so looking forward to a week in paradise !!!

Get the Best Exchange Rate
Last Updated: 12/24/08

You will almost always get the best interbank exchange rate when buying foreign currency with either ATM cards or credit cards, which will usually be 2 to 7 percent better than the rates you'll get when exchanging cash or traveler's checks.

If ATM's are easily accessible in the country you're visiting, we recommend using your ATM card for day-to-day cash needs. But again, remember that your bank (and the local bank) may charge you an additional fee for each transaction -- making it generally a good idea to take out as much money at a time as you feel comfortable carrying, rather than making multiple stops at the ATM.
