I have scar tissue acting up in 1 eye. I basically see a double shadow and haze in 1 eye only
I was told by an ophtalmo outside of the DR that there are 2 things we can try before thinking of surgery:
- scleral contact lense
- off label topical losartan drops.

Anyone in DR does this, if so whom?

I had scar tissue in my eye after cataract surgery. My eye doctor used a laser to remove it. Worked perfectly. The surgery lasted about one minute. That should be available in SD.

it seems the scarring from surgery about 25 years ago is now affecting my vision and no glasses will compensate. The 2 treatments described above are recommended to be tried with surgery as a last resort because of the extent of the scarring

The best cornea doctor/surgeon I found in DR during 20 years here (and I have much bigger cornea problems than yours) is Miguel Angel Lopez, clinica Diagnostica Ocular in Santo Domingo. https://www.diagnosticaocular.com/ 809-549-7722

I actually had superficial keratectomy on one eye to remove a some kind of a scar from my cornea, and on another eye for some other reasons. Maybe in a future I'll need cornea transplantantion, not sure for now yet, but anyway, this is the doctor I would recommend for all kind of cornea surgeries. He speaks English and you can trust him for sure.

Impressive! Is he affiliated with Centro Laser or just located in the same building?

No, they are on the 3rd floor of the same building and have nothing to do with Centro Laser or Laser Center. That's his place for consultations, he does surgeries in another location.

I have used Optica Cibao in the past for eye exam and to make glasses. They were excellent and do give you your prescription.

Forgive me, but I'm new here. Is there not a law that requires prescribers to relinquish the RX upon payment, as in the U.S? If not, there oughta be.

I have found out that Optica Cibao will arrange to have scleral contact lenses made.
One of the cornea specialist above looks really good so will be seeing him.

Still looking for who uses topical Lozartan drops to treat scarring!
