So normaly i travel to miami and back to europe from time to time. The longest i have been was in 2011 and i had to pay 2500 peso, 50 dollars or 50 euros , not fair cuz 50 dollars is not the same as 50 euros. I stayed 10 months.

Now im leaving again from SDQ, i have been here again allmost 10 months , will it be the same amount or did it increase the last 2 years. Thanks a lot i dont count on it to be less ;)

Are you serious T???

I better change my travel plans to 2014...Been here 7 Years, had no idea there was fee's attached to being here..19,000 or more in 2014, gives me some time to save...But a question...If I applied for my Cigualr? If thats how its spelled, would I have to pay this as well??

Thanks

Anthony

During an interview I was involved in at the U.S. consulate some years ago the woman doing the interview mentioned that a person could obtain any sort of Dominican arrival or departure stamp in their passport for just a few hundred pesos making it look like you were in the country for any time frame you desired. They could be had in the vecinity of the D.R. immigration office in Santo Domingo. Now, I would never condone doing anything illegal.........................

During my latest trip to the DR they scanned the "barcode" on my passport both entering and leaving the country. I don't think a stamp in the passport will fix the situation if the scan is to confirm how long you have been in the country.

Yup. Skynet, getting your CEDULA will not exempt you from having to pay the overstay fine and either way you have to go back to your country of origin to request your visa so you'll be paying it no matter what. For info on visas and residency, do a search, there's a wealth of information on here on procedures and costs.

Crossing the border into Costa Rica from Panama I was advised that if I went to a particular officer he'd back date my paper work saying I had arrived 3 days ago. The rule there is to be out of Panama for 72 hours to renew the visa. I didn't choose to play his game since I had friends to visit in Costa Rica that week.

What does this have to do with an overstay in DR???

Why not pay in pesos????

I do pay in pesos, allways, everywhere. Less ripoff :p and in 10 months here i dont have any euro bills left i just meant damn it im losing 50 euros calculating in euros again cuz im going to EU. Just sad they suck your money out of you up to the last monents you are here.

P.S. Its the official fee schedule. Even with that, the officer tried to tell me to pay more money, which I pointed out she was incorrect. She was just trying to pocket some extra... She backed down and let me through after I paid my 1000 pesos.
