From being volunteers or just making stipends ranging from RD$1,500 to RD$3,000 a month, firefighters will now make at least what looks like minimum wage. The Ministry of Interior and Police announces firefighters as of March 2024 will earn RD$15,000 a month.

Other benefits… Firefighters will receive a card that entitles them to discounts of 10% on supermarkets affiliated with the Dominican Federation of Merchants. The firefighters are now covered by Seguros Banreservas, the governmental insurance company, with one million in life insurance. They also now receive full health coverage under the Senasa government health plan. The firefighters can travel free on Omsa buses, the Metro and cable car services.
