Thank you. I will keep this 19k DOP when calculating fare difference
That's exactly what I did. Keeping in mind that the19,000 DOP is a bit more than 300 EUR, a price difference of more than 1000 EUR in air tickets definitely keeps PUJ the preferred option.

It looks like that the times for deals and cheap flights to Europe are over ! Looking for a flight to Germany or Belgium or the NL and cant find anything below 1,700 EURO (off season).
I found this one.

€400.
My daughter and sister in law will arrive next Sunday. I paid €350 each.
Or did you mean from POP?

Splitting time between the DR and somewhere in Europe is expensive. Especially if you don't live close to a main European hub.

Since Covid I have been paying 1000€ GVA-MAD-SDQ with Iberia.
That's base fare, I usually end up paying 1300€ --- I think---- for premiumsomethingorother economy.
It also allows me to change the return dates twice w/o fee.

Then I pay 300 or 400 pesos, depending whether I can be bothered haggling, for a taxi to take me to the CaribeTour station.
And 600 pesos bus ticket that gets me up north.

It makes it a long day, I leave my house in Europe around 05.00 and arrive in my house in the DR around 20.00, the same day.

Unless you are prepared to travel mid-week and have flexible dates. The first trip I took on Edelweiss/Swiss was less than £600 return but it was a 2 week Thursday to Thursday trip

I am developing a pattern now where I am 3-4 months in the summer in Denmark and 1-2 months around Christmas again in Denmark. So I travel back and forth twice a year.

True, which is why usually when you read stories of people splitting their time between Europe and a location with a warmer climate, it's not the Caribbean but Spain or something. Based on all what I've seen, I think hardly any people at all even travel from my country in Scandinavia to the DR. It's too far when there are countries with similar climate much closer...

Tenerife. Closer, better climate and cheaper.

We spent many winters there when I was a small kid. Right you are. However, for obvious reasons, the DR is our second home and will be so, as with many other posters on this board as well I believe.

For flying from the DR to Europe going from Punta Cana the so called Bavaro Express is not so express anymore. Takes between 3.5 and 4 hours where it before was 2.5 hours. More stops and more traffic.

Off to Vigo Spain the last week of June and 1st week of July. Lots of reports of locals in other cities in Spain being unfriendly to tourists so we will see how it goes.

I actually flew Punta Cana to Gatwick with BA and then again BA Heathrow to Billund in Denmark. Not really practical but I don't mind staying one or two nights in England where I have friends and family and things to do. I like breaking up the trip. The other option I use is Iberia Santo Domingo to Madrid and then either to Copenhagen or Hamburg. Sometimes it is possible to go all the way and other times I have to stay over in Madrid where I have friends so I don't mind too much.
