My Ford Escape SE Eco Booster built in 2014 is for sale. 120,000 miles. In very good condition, no rust, no dents or scratches, color white WhatsApp +1 809 399 5766 Office 809 526 3533
Our old neighbor had one of those in black, they were in the car business themselves and only spoke positively about this car. It appears that the interior in the front and the dash/controls are pretty much the same as Ford Focus EU has, it's just a bit lifted version as Escape is SUV...

The old Escapes can be worked on.

But the newest Ford Escapes have a 3 cylinder engine with a turbo - They are estimated to be good for maybe 120,000 miles. I don't consider that a good mileage vehicle.
Not when you can get a CR-V that can go 250,000 miles for not a lot more money new.
I think there is more service life left in a 10-year old Honda than a 2024 Escape.
Ford could do better. I have grown tired of disposable vehicles. Make them so a backyard mechanic can fix them again.

FYI, In addition to the 1.5 liter 3 cylinder, the Escape can also come with a with 2.0 or 2.5 liter 4 cylinder.

Additionally, there is an open recall regarding the fuel injection system on the 2024, but that pales in comparison to the engine design flaw in the Escapes from 2013-2019.

Exactly, for which reason, I would never want to purchase a late-model vehicle. Due to cargo reasons, we recently had to rent a newer Ford that had a keyless go. The theft preventer decided to malfunction just when we were literally middle of nowhere with a tons of stuff to take from A to B. I went through the manual to go through the OBC error codes and was very irritated to find out that every error, the instructions were "find a garage urgently". I'd be happy to, but we're in the middle of forest here... So two-truck it was, 2 hours waiting time and 300 EUR bill... That bill got sent to the renter pretty quickly... Diagnosis: loose or disconnected ground wire from theft preventer, causing it not to be operational at all...

We have two older Fords in family, one from 2004 and one from 2006, both in pristine conditions... You should hear the engines, so soft...

I believe the larger engines are only on Hybrid models?

I was very interested in buying a used escape. Three engines were available 1.6L turbo, 2.0L eco boost, and 2.5 normally aspirated. The first 2 almost always led to problems with the engine and transmission problems. Just didnt mate well. I looked for the 2.5 liter but couldn't find one at the time.

I will never own another turbo again. They are just a $1,000 or higher repair bill to buy the part, which will fail 100% of the time.

I've never own a turbo, and have heard rather negative stuff about these 3 cylinder engines which are brought to the limit with the turbo. I'm no car expert but I do follow some things in this area. I understand diesel trucks (not trucks as what is considered a truck in the US but like a small van for cargo etc.) with turbo but not gasoline, where the cc are reduced and then more power wanted out by stressing the remaining cc and then happens what you write... 4 cylinders without turbo might consume a bit more but the engine lives longer, it costs much less I think?

My Prado truck has a non-turbo 4 cylinder diesel engine. The supervisor at the dealer once commented to me that once my truck rusts away, it will get recycled through 3-4 more vehicles then be used in a planta. LOL

Yes if maintained (frequent oil changes) a Toyota diesel can go 500,000 miles.

Turbos are a fairly recent trend on mass produced cars.
They run the engine hot, they spin at over 10,000 RPM and they are horrible on diesel engines because they carbon up fast.
They are run by exhaust gas so imagine how hot they get running across country in 100+ degrees.
I doubt any of the modern cars can get over 70,000 on a turbo.
If the motor isn't shot it might even require the motor to be pulled to access the turbo. In DR you are staring at $1,000 - stateside $3K-$4K

The Chevy Cruze died a quick death when putting 1.4 turbos into that Chevrolet economy car instead of the 1.8L. They were blowing at 40,000 miles with regular frequency (some less) even with proper maintenance. Chevy discontinue this vehicle after issuing massive recalls.
Often when the turbos went bad it also destroyed the Cruze's catalytic convertor

I have a Mitsubishi L200 4 cylinder turbo diesel with over 380 thousand kilometers. I did have to replace the turbo about 30,000 K ago. I ordered a new turbo on line from Canada, $170 USD including shipping. Less than $100 USD to install. I recommend synthetic oil.
