In a recent interview with the program “Matutino Su Mundo,” former JCE president Roberto Rosario emphasized the board’s crucial role in bolstering national identity through the issuing of the national ID card. Rosario is a close aide to former President Leonel Fernandez, the presidential candidate for the leading opposition political party, the Fuerza del Pueblo.

Rosario asserted that, according to the Constitution, the JCE is responsible for managing both the civil registry and the electoral registry.

Rosario highlighted the role empowers the JCE to streamline and authenticate all documentation related to national identity. “Now more than ever, this is necessary,” he stated, “as there is always a potential risk of contamination within the civil or electoral registries.”

I suspect need of bolstering national identity has something to do with Haitians as its root cause?
I am good, I can trace my family roots in DR on my dad side to early 1600s.
