Do you have any more information regarding the shuttle bus service from San Juan to Mayaguez? I'm looking to make that trip the end of this month

I took the Ferry in April 2008, and I would well advise to have your Travel Agent include the shuttle service in your purchase. In April the cost was $20 U.S., one way. If you already have your tickets, see about adding the shuttle now, it needs to be purchased in ADVANCE.

You can omit the company shuttle and take the local private ones.
They were $25 U.S. one way, and beware, limited capacity.

With the company one, it?s a larger bus and you are guaranteed you have transportation.

My friend and I, unfortunately did not have the shuttle service included on our tickets, but managed to get the last 2 seats on a private shuttle.

You can not buy the company shuttle on the day you arrive. It must be purchased in advance. Leson learned, we immediately bought shuttle return tickets for our return trip

Another bonus, if the Company shuttle is late getting to the boat, they wait for it, this does not apply to the private ones. On our return to the ship, ours was so late that we walked directly onto the ship?and they left dock before we even had time to get to our cabin.

The shuttle takes about 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
For the company one, you need to get to their terminal EARLY, like before 12 noon (?).

Getting a CABIN is well worth the extra money, unless you like sleeping in a chair in a COLD room. Our round trip cabin with 4 small beds was around $80.

Round trip ticket purchase is a lot cheaper than one way.

Don?t overlook the Buffet breakfast, it?s fantastic, and was only $5.95, I got that much back just in the great bacon.

They ONLY accept U.S. dollars on the ship.

I believe all tickets must be purchased at least 3 days in advance.

Have a good trip!

Don,

Thank you very much. More information than I have been able to find anywhere on the Net!

Fortunately or not, I am not using a travel agency, so I have to make all the arrangements myself. I was unaware that Ferries Del Caribe has their own shuttle service from San Juan. And according to you, the price is right! I will be arriving in San Juan via plane, so somehow i need to get from the airport to wherever the shuttle service leaves from.

I'll give the Ferry service a call today, and see if I can get any more information from them. This "could" work out perfect for me.
