Saw a quick story on CNN this morning as I was drinking my coffee that led me to finding this on their website https://edition.cnn.com/2025/03/14/us/missing-college-student-punta-cana-update/index.html I've wondered what clothing the young lady left behind, and there's a photo showing her sarong on a chaise lounge, in a group of lounge chairs. The article also mentions her "flip-flops" being there too...lends some credence toward her wanting to go in the water. Not definitive of course, but certainly possible, The article also mentions a video showing others on the beach but that CNN had not seen it so couldn't comment much, If that is true, I hope it leads to something worthwhile in resolving this case.

I have a question that I don't think has been asked before. Does the resort allow media to enter the property?
I’ve been at resorts where the media has been present for announcements, special occasions, grand openings, etc. During bad publicity incidents like this, they don’t allow media on their property. They can’t stop them from setting up on the beach. That’s public property. The DR media has a strong sensationalism component attached to it and they don’t let facts get in the way of relaying their opinions to their listeners. They could probably teach the National Enquirer a thing or two.

Think about it. It was a very hot night, no power or air con at the resort, many people milling about because it was too hot to stay in their rooms, many drinking excessively to cope with the conditions. Why wouldn’t you go for a quick dip just to cool off? Not wise if the sea conditions were rough but the alcohol probably impaired her judgement and she felt she would be safe with her drunken friend nearby.

You're like a Canadian Larry Kudlow! Seriously though, it's tough to disagree with you.
Thanks for the compliment. Your generosity knows no bounds Hijo. As a child I loved the Sherlock Holmes stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. . It was where I learned about Occam’s Razor. “When faced with multiple explanations for a phenomenon, the simplest explanation is usually the most likely to be correct“. I use that a lot when faced with problems. It verifies the results of your in-depth mathematical probability analysis.

I've read that on a couple of sites now. Some folks think you can dig a substantial hole in the sand quickly. I'm not convinced yet.
Not a good idea to bury bodies in shallow graves in the sand JD. Erosion due to high winds, waves, causes the bodies to resurface, even above the high water mark. Canadian tourists in Mexico accidentally discovered multiple bagged bodies that resurfaced on a beach resort a few years ago. Drug cartel related killings.

As Big posted you would need a backhoe to dig a very deep hole to bury bodies in sandy soil to ensure they wouldn’t resurface.

Happy Monday Jose Jose did your internet investigation turn up anything in the last 7 hours of important:rolleyes:
Happy Monday, sharing or debating information that anyone could find doesn't quite count as investigation, nothing materially new so far. Best to wait for the day to unroll for what's official to be made known.

The power outage had been resolved by that hour, but yes, people certainly could have been about. I believe these two persons did enter the water, but I used the phrase "Not definitive of course, but certainly possible" for those who would then reply to me asking for proof...

Are there cadaver dogs in the DR? If so, and if used, I would think the "hole in the sand" theory would either quickly be eliminated or she would be found. I can't imagine that hole being very deep...is it feasible to use something similar to a metal detector (can't think of a better description but I know the tools exist) to detect abnormalities below the sand surface? That too could speed the process, rather than excavating randomly

And if we read only your Posts , it would be like counting the same Sheep over and over .
No one else's Sheep Matter . only yours .
your Bullying again stop it

Another interrogation session is scheduled for today with AG and associated teams. Continued search of the surrounding area grounds search (Times of India).

The search is costing millions for the DR. Unless private entities or the US or India kick in, they will have to wind the theatrics down asap. Dominican social media commentary focused on defending DR reputation, noteworthy that beaches are perfectly safe and why would any hotel on the world's largest AI expanse of land build resorts bordering on unswimmable waters. Also that the consensus is pointing toward foul play, now with excavation of sand and surrounding areas including but not límited to undeveloped and/or plots under construction between Riu and HR, also including the far side of HR and points off the main access road.

If they don't place the infamous medida de coerción on our cornpone cinnamon top today, well they may have to send everyone home and end the grand international theatrics. Dominicans on social media are pissed off indicating if the person of interest was Dominican, he would have been beaten and tortured until he gave up the goods. Dominican locals POV: if the missing girl had been Dominican, the case would have been closed already as-is.
