It looks like it will take one more week for this case to be forgotten.
Most of the recent posts indicate it already has been forgotten.

Just curious , and YOU get to decide when that point in Time is ?

You were hardly involved in this thread in the beginning ,
and now you just keep posting this same thing over and over .
Why dont you send a Letter to the Parents why you are at it .

Its a cold case. Buy yes it can be discussed forever and ever if you like.
it because there is no overstay fee thread or drug seizure thread.
Oh, but there is an Intrant going to test the driver's thread. As far as the woman never to be found unless by some accident, the discussion can go on.
Her parents have already accepted that she will not be found, by the way. No need for me to pen a note on that.

From the article linked above: In an email to The Post after Friday’s ruling, the Dominican law firm of Guzman Ariza, which represented Riibe in the case, noted that the decision simply confirmed Delgado’s March 17 decision. “The court ordered Mr. Riibe’s immediate release because he was unlawfully detained surpassing the maximum period of 48 hours permitted under the constitution of the Dominican Republic,” the firm said.

Good thing he hired these lawyers or he might still be here...

Here's my op ed on the case of Sudiksha Konanki:

The DR had one shot to dodge a PR s*itstorm that would’ve plastered its dirty laundry across every major news outlet for months. This was the only way out, swept under the rug; because left to its own devices, the corruption and incompetence would’ve been a neon sign screaming "failure." The fuerza pública bumbling around like keystone cops, the DR justice system screwing up basic due process so badly it’s their Mona Lisa, and a stunning failure of a search effort.

Then there’s the hotel. A glorified flop-house that couldn’t secure a broom closet, let alone a resort. Basic security? Infrastructure? A joke. Instead, they’re pouring tequila down your throat, cheering on debauchery like it’s a mission statement.

And in the middle of this poor man's Cirque du Soleil, a young woman dies. Killed or drowned herself, doesn’t matter. The aftermath was such a clusterf*** of errors. If she did drown at her own hands, it’s a huge middle finger that a cornpone cousin-breeding redneck from Iowa gets to keep stumbling through life like a bad punchline. This genius, Earth’s poster child for useless eaters, carries on, guaranteed to deliver his next spectacular f*** up while the universe mourns someone who actually mattered.

Meanwhile, the DR’s justice system keeps playing its favorite game, pay for play. Got cash, contacts? Murder’s just a line item on your tab. Rub someone the wrong way or look at them funny? Straight to jail, shakedown, beat-down, who knows it's worse than Russia roulette. It’s a two-tiered, no rules free for all where the house always wins and everyone knows it.

He’s been officially cleared.

The universe is unfolding as some of us predicted. Joshua Riibe is DR done. He’s now free to talk to US media outlets to build his case for a lawsuit for wrongful detention and reimbursement of legal fees to secure his release. He has the DR constitution on his side. The fat lady is still clearing her throat. She hasn’t sung yet. Wait for it.

And an excellent reason for a lawsuit.

Eco, while I love your posts on all things economy and geopolitics, you're so far off the spectrum tonight. I'm sending the police over to your house as we speak and I beg you to turn the drugs over to them no questions asked.
Patience amigo. All will be revealed in due time.

But an innocent man does not need a lawyer, courtesy of the DR1 "experts"...........
DR1 "experts" usually say that you don't really need a lawyer in DR until you are in court. So yes, this guy needed a criminal defense lawyer for his court hearings.

But since when Guzman Ariza became criminal defense lawyers? It's not their area of expertise at all. Probably they got involved because the relatives of the guy did not have time to find somebody else. Or maybe because Guzman Ariza wanted to turn it into advertising of their firm for foreigners, because of the wide publicity of the case, so they were mentioned a lot in the press. They need foreign clients to pay for their overpriced services, and advertising on DR1 doesn't work anymore because there are only a few old expats left on this forum who don't have any money anyway.

So good thing is not that he hired these lawyers, but that they did not fcuk it up, because it's not their area of expertise at all.
