I've stayed at the Jack Tar Village before and had friends (Dominicans) come to visit and stay at the hotel with no problem at all. They were paying customers just as I was...they received no better or worse treatment than I did...

It's a simple matter of wether your wearing the AI bracelet or not, if you are not wearing an AI bracelet you will get boarded for sure and even "disturbed" if you try to over explain your situation to the security guards ...Jack Tar Village is my favorite AI resort, been going there for 10 years, I'd say that if you try to "enter" a "guest" and are willing to pay for it, without making a reservation, the odds are in favor (60-70%) that he/she will be not welcomed. They could come up with any excuse to not give any rooms to non- reservation guests. I'm not being pesimistic, it's just that you can't expect too much of what you are asking for wether that may be a good room, service, attention, etc. Yes, sometimes security guards can be somewhat stupid, and even can seem to be somewhat discriminating regarding guests trying to "get in" and looking like locals. I'm sure it's not a racial issue, they're just protecting their guests, they're just carrying out an order given by their hotel superiors. It seems to be a general policy among AI resorts in this country. I've seen some polite and non polite guards, polite guards are the exception, it is a general behavior not only present in Jack Tar but on the whole country when it comes to security guards. So the guards believe that if their being rough or non polite to unkown people they're doing their job well, Just as a military guard or policeman would do. If you want to have full confidence and do not want to get tackled by the guards or the front desk clerks then i suggest you book a reservation for whomever you want to ENTER. If you get tackled even by doing this, you might have enough grounds for blackmailing the hotel. :bandit:

You know, everything that these people are telling you is 100% correct. I understand your surprise - I was also really surprised to find out that people who weren't guests of the hotel couldn't come in for a (paid) drink. We met a nice French couple and they wouldn't let them join us for a drink at the bar in the afternoon. We even stayed at a really small hotel where we knew all of the guards by name, though still an AI. It's policy, I guess, and although it isn't what we're used to in Canada or the States, that's just the way it is. Solution? We went across the street to a bar. As for you...
