I'd heard that Shop and Drink was moving closer to Steve's Bar. I didn't realize it would happen so soon. I liked having SnD a little farther down, as SnD, Delicious, and Steve all draw a bit of a crowd and having them literally on the same block is just going to make those intersections worse.

I tried a very good Italian restaurant once in Veron. It is near the Cruce Veron if it is still there. Maybe a little dead around there since they opened the new road. I cant remember the name of the restaurant.
Yes, it is called O Sole Mio - diagonally across the cruce from the Shell petrol station. It has never had a sign but it is still open for business and consistently excellent.

OK... much to my dismay I have to report a SURPRISINGLY negative experience at one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE spots in P.C.... Non Solo Pizza. Food, as good as ever. service... as good as ever, (except the absence of the usual complimentary after dinner Mama Juana.. or aperitif... whatever.) Two problems... new shop and drink kind of bar right outside... VERY loud. (and I don't mind noise.) NOT Non Solo's fault. A young teen beggar kid haunting the side bar of the the restaurant along the dining area... CONSTANTLY gesturing, and even throwing small pieces of paper at our table to get attention. largely ignored by the waitress et. al. until our second request to have him removed. (after one of our party told him to scram a few times.) I know they can't help what happens outside of the place.. .but this kid was inside. Jury is still out on the question if Non Solo stays on our "must visit' list. they do deserve another chance after several years of excellent experiences.

Oh no, I love Non Solo pizza, it was always nice to eat there or take the food home. What a great little place.

I know... very sad, but as I said the jury's still out. We'll give it another chance or two hoping that was an isolated incident.

Great pizza, of course, but last summer they had added a new chef and were offering some excellent new dishes. Not sure if he's still there or not.

Citrus and the new brazillian place in Plaza Turquesa are good.

A new Brazilian place? When did it open? And what is an average cost there? I'd really appreciate any info as mi espouso's Birthday is Feb 18 and I want to take him out for dinner. I know good Brazilian food is right at the top of his list of favourites!
Thanks!

I checked out the menu the other day. It's 995 pesos for the all-u-can-eat dinner. I believe that includes a salad bar as well. I've heard reports that it's good but I'm a picky son-of-a-bitch when it comes to food so I'm a tad bit skeptical.

I haven't eaten there, but heard several reviews by those who had. It was a mixed review... some liked it, some didn't. I can't vouch for the opinions offered though. It's right by Citrus. (BTW... last Friday Citrus had a 2 for price of 1 special on wine... bottles or glass. I don't know if it's every Friday, or what, but it is continuing.)

Oh oh Im all for the 2 for 1 wine! The sushi nights are well worth the money too.

Citrus has the same owner as Noah, yes.

Does anyone else think Balicana has gone downhill of late?

InsanelyOne And CaptnGlenn,

Thanks! He arrived Sunday and saw sign for it right away and has agreed it would be a great choice for his birthday dinner! So we've penciled it in for the 18th! Can't wait to get there... Seems like there are quite a few good choices for a nice dinner out!

Is Gladys - the place with Dominican food on Avenida Alemania still open and still good for lunch? I've wanted to get there for years but for some reason just haven't. I really want to make a point of going there this visit.

The food is so-so. The beef is local, so it's kinda tough. The portions are small, and the night I went, they were almost room temp. For $1000 RD it wasn't bad, but I wouldn't take a date there. You can fill up on $1000 which doesn't suck and they have TVs to watch the game, but that's about it.

Posada de Gladys was open in November when I was there. Still *very* popular with the locals, especially on weekends for lunch. There's a new bar on the other end of that little street right on the beach as well.

We have a new restaurant at the Hard Rock Hotel in the Casino. It is called Simon's Mansion for Kerry Simon. Kerry is a famous chef on the West Coast. It is open to the general public and you do not have to be staying in the hotel to go there Just tell Security that you are going to the Casino, and it is on your left entering the Casino.

High line place, but not cheap. Very nice atmosphere and a varied menu.
