Not sure which gov online service you refer to, but I had recently used my US debit card 💳 to pay for driver license renewal fees, passport renewal fees, and other online payments to gov institutions like ONAPI without any problems at all.

Can’t say about any other gov online services you might be talking about.

Same for payments of EDENORTE, CORAASAN, CLARO and others on the private realm.

In the past, I have used an American cc to pay EDE este. However, since the bills are under 500 pesos I have stopped and am using cash. Also, months ago I was told I needed a passport to do this in person. On line I don't know. That's the only government thing I use.

They always charge an extra Int fee from 0.20 to as much as 0.79 cents on some purchases.

I was trying to pay for some impuestos, among others, certificacion de no antecedente penal.
Instead of going to Ban reservas.

I follow the instructions on the website, but I get a prompt saying " no hay tareta agregado " or something of the sort.
So I follow instructions again and I fill in card details and hit " siguente ", it then asks me what " institution finiancial " and a menu pops up with only DR banks.

Funnily I am kind of happy that it didn't work, after thinking about it, even though I had to queue up 1h30 mn at Ban reservas ( like really ?? no money in the ATMs, so 2/3 of the people were just waiting to get some cash ).

I must have signed up for the DR website some time ago and probably ran into the same issues and forgot about it.
So when I tried to create an account a prompt came up saying something like " user already exists ).
1 click of a button allowed me to change the password ( as I had no idea what it was ), and magically you are in, and it knows your name and cedula number ( they are prefilled ).

Least secure website, ever made.

For no antecedentes you must sign and create an account first online. The cédula is your main id.
Same for the CORAASAN.
Same at intrant.
