The Dominican Republic announced on Wednesday, 2 October 2024, the National Security and Defense Council met and determined actions including a ceiling of deporting around 10,000 undocumented persons each week to tackle the surge in illegal Haitian migration and the perceived overpopulation of undocumented migrants in Dominican communities. The increased migration is the result of the continued multidimensional crisis in Haiti.

President Luis Abinader, who chaired a meeting with council members yesterday, had said during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly Debate that the lack of concrete actions in Haiti were forcing the DR to take drastic measures to defend national security. The government announced security agencies have been mobilized to support the immigration policies.

Indeed.
I support Luis's decision 100%. To hell with the bleeding hearts and NGOs.
Anyone who is undocumented needs to be rounded up and deported regardless
of who they are or where they are from.
I could not agree more, but the government really only cares about those that are Haitians.

and what about the HIV outbreak................
What about it?
I've known several people who've passed away from HIV in the DR. Most were prostitues who worked in Sosua, around a dozen.

Not quite sure where you going with this however I don't think it's something to be take lightly or joke about as HIV is not a game.

Even though I feel that if you are illegal here (expired visa-border crosser, whatever) you should be deported or have to get the legal documents.

I do feel bad when I see the people mover trucks loaded with humans. Arms hanging out of the cages. Packed full of everyday people. It brings tears to my eyes. I give them the prayer, head bowled signal when they pass by. But, it should be done, in my opinion.

Actions always have consequences.

Uhm, people with legal work documents should do the work. The government should get on that little detail.

I think Dominicans are smart enough to step up to the plate if they take a hit in the construction sector and won't let this potential problem deter them moving foward with deporting these undocumented immigrants.
