A friend was walking to work today and was picked up and told they were being sent back to Haiti. No one cared that they were born here, no one asked for documentation. They only wanted a 6000 peso bribe to be released. This is the 2nd time this year. The first time she was beaten and raped repeatedly until the family got the money together. Crimes against humanity!

I’ve seen video of the beatings sent to her contacts from her own phone as encouragement to pay.

Then there’s the added trauma of unwanted pregnancy and abortion after the fact.

You should stick to destroying the environment.

I could not care less about you opinion. The fact is they beat the tar out of her. I saw it. It was ugly. You’re fortunate, privileged even and have no appreciation of what goes on amongst the poor and oppressed.

Despite all your talk you haven’t a clue.

George Bernard Shaw, May West, and Lao Tzu, and many more, have thoughts on the importance of not caring about what you have to say. I’ll conflate the 3 of them and paraphrase: Don’t get filthy, tied up or imprisoned worrying about the thoughts of others. Perhaps Virginia Woolf said it best: The eyes of others our prisons; their thoughts our cages.

Raped repeatedly by Government troops or police? It does have a bit of doubt. Remember recently there was a young Haitian girl sexual assaulted in Punta Cana by a military guy. There was a big stink raised and I believe he was charged.

Pile on Bob.

That you or anyone else here fails to care or believe is precisely the point. Thanks.

Whether or not she sought medical attention is not the issue. Rape/assault victims often do not do so, due to fear, embarrassment, or whatever. If she had, even then she may have been afraid to pursue the issue further. The bribe part of the story is certainly believable. The rape/assault part is horrible, but not beyond belief. When those with a bit of authority look on others as less than human, this sort of abuse easily happens...been true throughout history.

Being born in the DR is no guarantee of a person being a DR citizen.
Only if the parents are legally in the DR is that possible.

I am sorry to see that the bribes continue regardless of how such "payments" are made to reenter the DR illegally.

Huh?
What the hell do George Bernard Shaw, May West, and Lao Tzu have to do with actions to control surge in Haitian migration?
I suggest you learn to control your emotions and not let others live in your head rent free 😄😅

Mass deportation are one thing but one needs to scrutinize how all of these illegals entered the country in the first place. I would be more interested in seeing numbers of how many are detained trying to enter the country (does that ever get reported?)
The deported will easily cross the border and return to DR. I'm sure the border patrol agents are very happy about this $$$
