What you stated above is 100% correct. Others can argue, but they would be wrong.
I think that hate is too strong a word, I think many Dominicans distrust and fear Haitians. Like many Immigrants when they are low in numbers, they keep quiet and are unintrusive. When the numbers are large, they become more aggressive, assertive and violent. Many Dominicans are part Haitian anyways.

Many Haitians I have spoken with about their fellow compatriots bad behavior
often blame it on the Haitians from Port-au-Prince.

I was chatting with my friend yesterday, asking how she was and she told me that finally after years of trying to prove her birth she got all her paperwork together and is going to SD to get her new cedula ASAP.

It seems that her birth was not properly recorded or reported or whatever the procedure is, and all the issues that created but it’s finally concluded. She’s half Dominican.

It is certainly not too strong a word. Not at all from my personal experiences.

The longer you live here, the more you realise that the hatred towards Haitians by Dominicans is absolutely entrenched. Sure they all deny that they hate them, but I have never ever heard a Dominican say a positive word about Haitians. "I'm not anti Haitian but they all stink" is a pretty typical response. I have kids in school here and they are pretty much taught that it's OK to hate Haitians. Racism is bad and we should all love each other, but obviously that doesn't apply to Haitians. (And this in a convent school).

Trust me there are very few Dominicans losing sleep over the treatment of Haitians. And zero appetite for issuing work visas.

Obviously this is based on my own personal experience of living and working in the capital for over 12 years, I speak Spanish fluently and only hang around with Dominicans. I'm sure some on here will argue with me.
Actually, Haitians are not the only ones who are said to stink. I had friends who worked at resorts and they all mentioned people from certain european countries who didn´t shower much or smelled bad. My aunts hosted two white Americans who had poor hygene, so she´d say that Americans stink. While these comments might not be PC, they´re unrelated to the person´s color or race, as white people get the same treatment.

Overall, Dominicans and haitians get along well. I know Dominicans who have Haitian husbands or partners. I'm Dominican and have Haitain friends and clients, there is no hate between us. I had a relative who had a school- She had both haitian and dominican kids, and they all got along well and played with each other. I used to study French at a language academy in SD and our favorite teachers were Haitian. The "rock star" teacher, the one whose class you wanted to be in, was haitian. There was no hate. My teacher was hired by the ministry of education and was on tv during the pandemic.
This is also based on my own personal experience, as I am Dominican, and have lived here all my life.

The joy of a forum like this is that you learn different opinions. I'm not sure where you live, maybe its different in the capital. All I know is that everyone I talk to doesn't like Haitians, not one little bit. And I have witnessed schools supporting this point of view. But I appreciate everyone's miles may vary and it's good to know that some folk have different experiences.

like the song says,
Move 'em on, head 'em up, head 'em up, move 'em on
Move 'em on, head 'em up, rawhide
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in, ride 'em in, cut 'em out
Cut 'em out, ride 'em in rawhide
