Government takes big strides to restore Sosúa Beach

The Ministry of Tourism reports significant steps were taken this month for the restoring and revitalizing of Sosua Beach in Puerto Plata. Structures that had been illegally erected within the 60-meter coastal zone were demolished and removed.

The Executive Unit for the Readecuation of Neighborhoods and Environments (URBE), under the Ministry of the Presidency, initiated a comprehensive survey and registration of 208 commercial establishments within the restricted beach zone in 2021. Prior to demolition, extensive consultations were held with local community members to understand their needs and the nature of businesses operating in the area.

This project, part of the broader Sosúa Beach Recovery and Reordering initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Tourism, aims to restore the beach to its natural state and promote sustainable tourism.

Public access to Sosua beach was and is fine. He might have a point about QoL but even then thats going to depend on what happens when the plazas are finished. Right now the eyesores are not adding any quality

What's that photo? It doesn't look like anywhere I recognise as Sosua, now or in the future. The small amount of traffic is certainly unrealistic.

If they want to promote more tourism in Sosua they need to sort out the drainage issue so that half the town doesn't get flooded like we have seen in the last few weeks. As long as they don't get that sorted out they can forget about the rest...oh, and get the overhead cables underground if they ever resolve the flooding issues.
